Question JB4 now... what intake and downpipes?

Hey guys. I just got a 2013 335i four door. I just purchased the JB4 chip and decided I wanted to intake and downpipes as well in one big swoop. Anybody have any suggestions what are the best intakes and downpipes?

1. Best overall?
2. Best bang for the buck?
3. Are either of these going to throw an error code on the dash?

I don't know where to start. Thanks guys!

I have the Injen intake, love it. Have never had any check engine codes. Sound is great in sport mode and then almost unnoticed in comfort or Eco.

I would get down pipes. CATLESS or CATTED , depends on what you want. But evolution racewerks is the way to go. You could instantly feel the gains with the JB4 and sounds great with any exhaust including stock.
BMS is cheap and sounds amazing. Love the swoooshhhh noise it makes. And very easy to install.

If budget isn't a problem, ER catless+AWE tuning CF intake.

ER catless will throw a CEL on the dash, but since you have your JB4 (stage 2 I hope) you can have it autoclear.

I have the JB4 that you can choose the stage I believe. So it will auto clear then? Will it clear when I don't have the JB4 activated?

It will auto clear the codes-you can also set it to off if you want to see the codes. You also should consider a charge pipe as the increased boost puts more stress on a weak part....here is my review of the VRSF DP.

Yes, just make sure it's on Map 4 (logging mode only) and make sure you get the upgraded chargepipe.

IMO I would get the TIC chargepipe too as you have to drop intercooler anyways.

To install new chargepipes, it's easier if you take off the intercooler and put new chargepipes in, so that's why I recommend buying both chargepipes so you don't have to do it again.

To install the cp you do not have to remove the intercooler...it needs to be loosened and moved a few inches.

On the xDrive at least, you had to remove the intercooler (literally 2 bolts and slide down) or else no room, and you'll definitely need to drop it for TIC chargepipe. Also was a bitch to clip the CP back on the intercooler.

Yeah, might be different for Xdrive. I agree the hardest part was getting the lower portion to fit correctly--just an odd angle and breaks the arm shoving that bitch in. Mine did not seat right the first time and popped off on my first test drive. Yeah, the IC is easy to slide out.

Most popular intakes Injen and BMS

Downpipes Wagner, VRSF and Evolution Racewerks

Wagner DP, made in Germany very high quality downpipe with precise fitment for a very reasonable price

Best bang for the buck? VRSF. unbeatable price, ceramic coated finish + perfect fitment

Evolution Racewerks is a very high quality DP made in the US, but will cost more than the 2 other options above

You wont get any CEL light because the JB4 hides it

any concerns with the open element filters sucking in hot air vs the stock that keeps most of that engine temp out?

From an engineering stand point seems best to just upgrade the filter in the stock air box to keep it as cool as it can be or am I missing something here?

IAT isn't much different stock or open element except when the car is stationary.
