Prime day is notorious for having bait click bullshit deals. The only thing I'm really interested in is the latest Anker PowerCore+ 26800 which is excluded

Yeah, not seeing much. Maybe some of the TVs, laptops and amazon devices might be worth buying, but I dont need/want any of that.

For some laughs throughout the day though, follow #PrimeDayFail on twitter.

Totally unimpressed. Amazon's way of dumping stock that won't sell otherwise.

am I the only person who's noticed how high amazon's prices are? I just got a Channellock 6-1 screwdriver, for $7 no tax/free shipping from an online etailer. Amazon sells the same thing, prime eligible, for $12.52. I got 3 different pliers in that order, and the same thing, on each one, amazon is significantly more expensive. Is this a gigantic secret that I just let out? I have only had prime when it was free, like 4X, I would never pay for prime. All the high prices imho subsidize the other perks it has.

I have the Echo and love it. So much more intelligent than Siri. The cool thing too is that you can add more capabilities through the app and it's always getting smarter.

I agree with this to a point -- they are a retailer that's powered by technology which they will leverage to drive revenue so yeah I think they play "loose" with the prices to their advantage. Sometimes the price is just OFF like you mentioned. That's when I think Amazon is playing around and they don't do it with everything -- just select items IMO.

I also don't always look at just the price for a product but the whole transaction which means shipping + taxes. Many sellers on Amazon will list lower unit prices but then you get hit with larger shipping fees and/or taxes so the best deal isn't always the cheapest product price.

I do know that Amazon uses technology in ways I can barely understand (such as predictive analysis, price segmentation, etc). There's a great thread on Quora about this that a friend of mine shared a while ago. It's worth reading to get a better understanding of it.

Let's not even discuss airline tickets -- even bigger rip-off IMO.

This is exactly what I think. A lot of these "deals" are clearance of older model products with a few semi-interesting things sprinkled in to get the press to talking about Prime Day.

Actually, Amazon listened to the complaints last year and made good improvements on the available stuff this year.

The Segway miniPRO is $699, off the regular daily price of $999, and the MSRP of $1299. That's a good deal for that piece of technology, and no one else on the web has it for $699.

So they are not just "dumping" old stuff, although they are in the business of making money so of COURSE some of that goes on.

I like that Segway minipro also. Seems like a sweet deal.

Bought my Mom a Kindle Paperwhite. I was going to get her one anyway, so saving a few bucks today was good.

2 examples the other way: I saw deals on the lowest level Roomba (but not higher level models) and Passport Max radar detector (but not Max II). Those seem to be dumping slower selling products or are designed to be click bait to get people to look at the more expensive model links on the product pages. I'm sure there are some decent values to be found, but IMO still not worth sifting through the Prime Day deals to find them any more than rummaging through bargain bins at brick and mortar retailers. (I think Black Friday "deals" at retailers are similarly not very interesting.)

Nothing interest me right now.
One thing I have noticed though is that when I placed something in my cart and leave it there for a day or two, the prices seem to always bump up. Not a lot but enough to make me rethink the purchase. I also noticed this when I would browse on an item several times during the week, the prices would steadily go up.
One example is a spray can of Plastidip. I see it at $9 something, a few days later it jumps to 12 something. Now, I see its down to 9 something again.

The wife has been wanting a pressure cooker lately... honestly she's never going to use it so I don't know if I should even bother spending the $69

Not from AP, but best recent appliance purchase. Drop a rock-solid frozen pork shoulder in there, and 90 minutes later you are pulling pork for your sammiches.

That's another problem... she's not a good sandwich maker. Still needs some training in that department

On a serious note. I might add that pressure cooker to the list and see what kind of stuffs I can make in it.
