Dealer can't get it fixed
Hi guys,
I own a January 2013 M135i. Posting in this forum as my doubt is related to the engine and not the model. I have detected that my car tugs (shakes forward, something like a power loss/normal power/power loss/normal power) when full throttle. Difficult to explain and even more if not native English. They have noticed that behavior when test-driving the car with me but they don't find the cause as no error is logged. Been searching and found that it could be due to spark plugs, injectors and/or coils. They have changed the spark plugs, air filters, fuel filters and microfilters at three year maintenance (BSI Plus), but problem is still there. Any idea on what can be the issue here? Thanks in advance! P.S. Car is stock except for the MPerformance Exhaust. Last edited by TitanNut88; 08-01-2016 at 05:26 AM.. |

Guess mine does it too:
At any gear (i.e. 2nd, or 3rd) going to like 4500 or 5000rpm keeping the throttle still, so rpm stays at the high rpm. Engine starts to shake. It feels like you describe, that the engine behaves "nervous". When I start moving the throttle (excellerating) the engine behaves normal again. I have to check once, if it also acts like that if in "normal" mode or just in "sport". So far I rated it as normal turbo engine behaviour and didn't put too much attention on it.

Do you have any logging device? Might be hitting boost limit, just a thought.

Did you dealer open or willing to open PUMA case with BMW in your country? In the US, these problems are shared with BMW North America (NA) and the dealer will work with BMW NA to determine what parts should be replaced next.
The dealer typically cannot replace parts under warranty unless there is a clear diagnostic path: an error code and known repair procedures. Otherwise, warranty repairs will not be reimbursed and prior approval from BMW (in your region) is required. Suggestion: - If BMW in your region agrees, replacing DME and wiring harness (there is more than one) from DME to major engine components might make sense. |

have the dealer look at/test fuel pressure regulator, I suspect it's that.

Play with ISTA+. You can get tons of live parameters, like accelerator pedal position, boost pressure, throttle valve position, air mass flow, spark misfires, injector info and so on

Have they run a full fuel diagnostic series? That can be a bad pump or fuel pressure regulator sensor.
