JB Stage 1 with a catless downpipe and CEL fix adapter
Seems like everyone with a downpipe is using a JB4. I currently have a 2013 F30 335i (PWG) with a intake and JB Stage 1. I was going to get a ER catless downpipe mostly for the sound. I don't plan to race my car or use higher than a 91 octane (I live in shitty Cali) / E85 fuel or mess around with the different MAP settings.
Should I Just get one of those CEL-fix adapters after getting my downpipe installed, or is that just stupid and I should go all out and buy a JB4 to replace the Stage 1? Anyone else NOT using a JB4 with a downpipe? |

I'm not an expert but does the stage 1 have the ability to optimize the use of the downpipe? Meaning are you going to spend $3-400 on a downpipe and not be able to use it to its potential because of tuning?

That's the main question I have as well. I see many are running their JB4 with Map 2 setting which is +6psi and ideal for downpipe with 93 octane. I only get 91 octane and the Stage 1 is +3.5psi standard. Other than the obvious difference in psi I wonder if there's any other "optimizations" a JB4 will get me in my situation. I also have a PWG so I don't believe I can take advantage of the EWG features.

Is there a reason you don't want to get a JB4? I had stage one and ended up selling it for like $250 and bought a used JB4 for around $300. Even without 93/E85 I'd prefer the JB4

I have stage 1 and downpipes on my car. Im not sure if the stage 1 utilizes the downpipes to its full potential, but I can tell you it runs better with the downpipes and sounds great. If you don't mind the CEL and smelling like a go-kart, go for it.

Curious as to how you liking this setup? Which brand DP did you go with and have you considered the Big Daddy mini cat CEL fix?

You can always plug in the BMS CanFlap Module to take care of the CEL. Mike |

I'm thinking about going with a VSRF DP. How does the DP fix work? Also would I need to even worry about having the DP fix? I'm an area that has e-check so I just want to know I'm covered.

I cant give you any advice on how to illegally pass emission tests, but the DP fix will trick your ECU into thinking that the cats are still there

Just saw that..yeah I want to know about this and hoping we get input from anyone who has used it and passed emissions--would well be worth the price compared to doing a DP swap.
