It had to happen eventually!
Not sure what's wrong with people these days but I wonder if some of them do this sort of thing on purpose. There was plenty of room between my car and the one I parked next to. When I came back the space next to mine was empty but they obviously left their mark!

I feel your pain My last E61 received a massive scrape all along the side as some idiot swung around while reversing out next to it. It's not nice when you get back to your car and see any sort of damage
I took out a cosmetic warranty with mine, with cover for 6 minor repairs a year. I've already got a deep scratch in the door shut where my mother caught the seat belt buckle in the door while closing it. You can only see it when the door's open obviously, but it's not nice knowing that your brand new car is already damaged and it's only a month or so old! Yours would probably come out with that paintless dent removal process? Hope you get it sorted! |

and this is why I absolutely don't park next to other cars. I find a spot far enough away that the squatty bodies won't ever park there. You know, the ones that circle the lot waiting for a spot right next to the door.

Shit! Carelessness infuriates me. I can understand if a child or an elderly person does this. But it seriously pisses me off when I see adults with zero spacial and situational awareness. Some clown scraped my front bumper back in March at a Sainsbury's car park. Experience with BMW bodyshop was great thought. Hope they can fix yours quickly. Doesn't look like the paintwork is damaged.

Bummer! Why people can't take care when opening their doors is beyond me - pure selfishness
Hope the bodyshop or "Mr Dent" fixes without too much hassle . |

Unfortunately it is a pointless exercise trying to understand the mentality of these sort of people. I am sure we all take as much care as we can but no matter how hard we try there is always some moron waiting to spoil our day and cost us money.

I had the same thing happen about one month after getting my X1. I took it to a dent repair shop and within one hour the dent was removed without a trace. Unfortunately it cost me $200.

Thanks for all the support messages.
You'll be pleased to know I've just got my car back from 'Chips Away' and WOW........even with a really close inspection under their workshop lights, I can't see where the damage was. They have done a brilliant job, total cost £114 and worth every penny. I'm feeling a lot happier than I was a couple of days ago. According to my wife, I have been a bit of a grouch.....Surely not!!?? |
