Ahh man..now I have to take Jb4 off

So, I had a Drivetrain malfuntion warning a couple months ago..re-started the car and it was fine. Got one today and was in limp mode--pulled over and re-started and gone. Called dealer and SA said to bring it in next week. So, I will bring it in but I will take off the JB4 for that.....so annoying..and if they update software then I have to code again as well Just wanted to bitch.

That blows, I still don't have a tune yet but I imagine that sucks lol.

For coding stuff is it not possible to make a backup or something of changes you made then if they update you can just plug in and reinstall?

You know, I think the settings can be saved, but I'm not confident that would go perfect. I know coding each item worked so I might just do that again if need be and it will keeps me in practice for coding. Some of the stuff I coded I don't even use such as cameras and DVD enabled while in motion. The two that I use the most are the folding mirrors by CA or fob and angel eyes at 100% when headlights on.

Yeah, only thing I'm a little worried about is that I have to take it off Monday because my Appt. is tuesday morning...hope I don't get a CEL for the DP. Then I would have to explain that.

I have taken it in a couple times with it on and one time they wanted to do a full car check. Nobody ever said anything. It's a big job and I hardly think that has anything to do with it. I haven't seen any info relating DP's to problems.

Did you scan the car for codes to see what the actual fault was?

The first time I checked for codes and none were there. This time, I did not check figuring the JB4 would have cleared them.

That's normal TBH, I've had a limp mode and drivetrain malfunctions with JB4, but it's either due to fuel pressure isn't high enough to hold boost (map 6) or because my radiator fan got hit with too much water, but it's only happened once. I normally scan the codes with JB4 and if it's something I know, then I normally erase it and all is good.

Yeah, I have installed it myself and I removed one when I had my e90 when the water pump went out...it's not hard, but I dread the Tmap clip--that thing always gives me problems. I've never seen a clip as difficult.

I've read people have this pop up from time to time and mentioned that to the SA but he said it is rare and not normal and said I really should get it checked. One correlation between both times it happened: had a pretty good amount of e85 going, tank was at 1/4 full and it was upon startup.

Problem is, is that the JB4 might clear everything and when I take it in on tuesday there will be nothing to show...but I can't turn auto clear off because then I might get a CEL for the DP...don't feeling like explaining that...kind of a catch 22.

so I cancelled the appt. Talked with a buddy of mine who said I should wait as well and as chaungo said this can be normal. I have been on Map 0 and no codes. I am going to re-evaluate.

I get the drivetrain malfunction about once a month. Then it won't let me connect via blue tooth, then I restart the car and its fine.

turn off auto code clearing. Even if you take the JB4 off BMW aren't dummys they are gonna know what codes the JB4 causes. They probably already bought a few of em to see what they do.
