Brake noise when stationary

When my car is in park mode and I tap the brakes it makes a clicking noise. I am a bit worried, any thoughts on this?

Is the noise coming from around the shifter? It's probably just the gate opening so that you can shift out of park.

I cant really tell but i always hear it. I need a second person pressing the break in order for me to check where the sound is coming from.

Put your hand on the shifter as you press the brakes, and you should be able to feel it click. It's a nearly universal thing for automatic transmissions, and perfectly normal.

Talking CHEEEEEERS

Thanks buddy, it is my first auto. All my previous 3 cars have been manuals. Thats exactly where the noise is on the shifter. I originally thought it was something odd.

You are spoilt for a first time auto - I have had many auto's over the last 30 or more years and this is by far the best - in fact it was one of the main reasons the X1 was in my shortlist (along with a few ZF's) - enjoy

I'm 27, my first car was a seat Leon, then moved onto a Vauxhall Insignia, and last Manual was a Focus ST. Auto is not bad, but do still miss my manual.
