Lightbulb Forge BOV Kit Fitment?

I just saw a thread on the m235 forums where they installed the following BOV (Atmospheric vent) kit.

http://www.forgemotorsport.com/Blow_...uct--1358.html

The kit is made for the N55 engine but the site list that the only compatible vehicles is the m235i..

Since I have an f30 (n55)... Will this fit as well? does anyone know a reason why would this not fit another n55?

Thanks!

My bet is that it would fit, do they have an install guide? I heard those things can be hard to install...

Forge said it fits, I asked for more details tho, like if they think it's an improvement over the DV+ and if so, what is their reasoning? And how does it function differently than the DV+.

does anyone know if this leads to issues down the road? my last car was a VW GLI with a 2.0T and it also used a DV, but it was well known that BOVs on that car were not a good idea:

"DV (diverter valve) takes the remaining air from the turbo after throttle body closes and "diverts" it back into the air intake. On a VW, This air has already been pre-measured by the MAF and the ECU expects that air to be there. If the air is no longer there the ECU will not know that and add fuel for air that is no longer in the system. This will cause your ECU to log a rich code (too much fuel in the fuel/air mixture) and make it lean out (add more air) your fuel air mixture to compensate for this loss in air due to the BOV and it overall ruins your entire fuel map."

does the MAF on the N55 work similarly at all and therefore a BOV would not be such a good idea??

Isn't there an option with the jb4 to run off the map sensor instead of the maf (speed density)? Or is that only for n54s?

No idea...that's interesting. If what he said above applies then I'll have to pass.

Can anyone with technical knowledge of the N55 confirm?

The Forge DV makes sense if you are looking for the atmospheric aspect otherwise the GFB DV+ can be had for significantly less and you'll still reap the benefits of improved response, a touch more sound and it fixes any small leaks that them OEM is prone to have as it ages.

I don't think it matters because the recirculated or vented air is not metered by the MAF for fueling purposes.

This was very common on the WRX platform too not so much in the BMW world since that particular air isn't metered.
