MPPSK - Keep or Discard Stock Exhaust
I'm hearing a lot of conflicting opinions and would like to keep track of them and maybe with reasons justifying the decision.
Reasons to discard - - Where the hell am I going to store this thing? - How am I going to get it home? Reasons to Keep - - Would it help when I decide to sell the car? - Would I be able to sell it on Craigslist for a few hundred? The nature of the upgrade and ECU flash (as well as the mysterious red envelope that ties the mod to your VIN) makes me wonder if the Stock exhaust could ever be replaced at all anyway and this is a moot topic.

Just get rid of it, I kept mine and hate how it's just taking up space in my garage.
I paid the guy an extra 20 bucks to cut up the stock exhaust so I could bring it home (I liked the idea of being able to revert back to stock if needed). If I could do it over again I'd probably just have them scrap it. |

i still have my stock v6 accord exhaust from when I installed a Borla catback myself in 2004. It is still taking up space in my dad's garage even years after I sold the car.

I've put an exhaust on every car I've owned. Never kept my stock exhaust, never regretted it.
I did cringe a bit thinking about how new the OEM system was on this car. But I doubt there is much of a market for stock 340i exhausts at this point. And part of the appeal of the MPPSK is you don't have to worry about it lowering resale value like you do with aftermarket mods. So no real need to go back to stock down the road. Honestly, biggest issue was not wanting to deal with fitting dirty exhaust into my clean car and then finding a place to store it. Oh, and I think you mean a "moot" topic. Sorry for being that guy. |

Could you sell this exhaust? Does it fit any of the other three series? Is it worth anything aside from scrapping it for metal?
I am debating the same thing. |

I donated my stock exhaust to the metal scrap dude who drives around the neighborhood every Saturday morning. He'll have time to sell it. I just can't keep these bulky things around the garage. Still holding onto my sport brakes a year later.

My dealer asked what my plan was, said he always hangs onto stock system for a few weeks just in case. He laughed about saving a customer a bunch of money a few years ago when the dudes wife refused to ride in car or some such nonsense after a performance system was installed. I'll discard and let dealer ... deal with it.

I kept my stock exhaust, but I've got the space to store it. However I tend to agree with the majority here that I'm unlikely to refit it when I part/exchange the car at 4yrs old.

Aha...was he in "Homicide - Life on the Street" or "The Wire"? I remember the character.

Yes, and he is also in that new series "American Crime" too, playing different characters each year. All great shows. The "Bubbles" character is memorable, though, as much as "The Wire" itself. I keep wondering if Simon will show up in "Bosch", the Amazon Prime series that has Lance Reddick as the LA Police Chief - I think he was also in The Wire.
