Dyno'd the car again

Hi guys!

Had the car dyno'ed again yesterday for the second time. This was on a heart breaker dyno dynamics machine which generally read 12 to 15% lower than the American Mustang dynos that many use for Glory figures.

Since my last dyno I've had a custom remap by Trebila. Vargas Inlets fitted and a fuel-it stage 2 fuel pump. Full mods are below in the sig.

Last time before the mods the car came out at 386WHP, which equated to 454HP at the crank. This time I was 483HP at the crank. That would be 549 to 568HP on the Mustang dynos.

The timing wasn't quite perfect on cylinder 2 so there was some timing pulled up top. A niggle I'm working on.

The car also wanted to get off the dyno with all the Torque. They had to tighten down the straps after a few attempts. Even with Toyo R888 tyres.
I need to check the logs but I think the operator eased in the throttle and that would mean boost wasn't targeting 100% down low. The Torque should look pretty much flat across the 1300 to 4500 rev range.

Also note the lines don't cross at 5252rpm as the Torque and HP scales are different on the left and right of the graph. Also looks like they didn't change the rpm scale from the previous M5 tested. It didn't rev to 8700 rpm. That must be estimated or my pistons would be on the floor.

Will Post the data below:

My Brothers 5 litre V10 M5 dyno'd 450HP just before me.
He was a bit disappointed but I actually think this machine reads really low.

I say this because apparently the 1/4 mile time for a stock M5 is 12.3 and as we know, nobody seems to be able to replicate magazine times in the real world. It has been speculated that this is because, they use super sticky tyres, don't do the tests on actual drag strips and sometimes use stripped out cars to get the best times.

My brother has done something like 12.25 at Santa Pod. From what I can see in the US most M5s read 430hp on their dyno dynamics machines. When he won the NA M car category on the BMW show day, they asked him if it was modified. It is now with a nicer sounding exhaust but he's run it as it was and with the exhaust. The times have been the same. Consistently traps around 115mph. It might have had a remap by a previous owner. So I just can't believe that it could be any lower than the factory 500hp it came with. In my opinion it's more like 550HP at the crank.

Very nice numbers, it might be better to get a dyno run at SRR, mine has been there a few times and got 424hp (jb4 map5-no meth/inlets etc), looking to go back shortly.

That's impressive Jack.

I think next year will 100% be meth and fuel pump as I'm so jealous LOL.

Interesting on your brothers M5. Does sound like it's way under. But even with a remap and exhaust I'd doubt it'll be hitting 550.

There's quite a bit in the 5 litre with valve, timing and exhaust tuning etc. It may well not be 50HP but I wouldn't be surprised at a 10% gain. BMW do aim for reliability over all out power.
