Crap MPG

Why am i averaging 32mpg around town? sometimes it drops to 28mpg if use sports mode for a while.

25d is the model.

I mostly drive in comfort mode to work and home and then in and around town.

The only time i use motorways is on weekends when yes the economy is is in mid 40s depending on my speed.

I do not drive accordingly to the speed limits, (not bragging, just being honest) 40/50 on roads and 60/70 on straight run highways of a strech of 2 miles to work. so is that affecting the economy?

My previous cars were way better, even my Focus ST gave me 32mpg! this is a diesel and i am pretty disappointed.

I know i did not buy this car to be fuel efficient, but i thought the 25d would return me around 38mpg.

Now diesel has hit up to 115-120p per litre!

Unfortunatley there are lies, damned lies and...manufacturer fuel consumption figures

I've had my X1 xDrive20i M-Sport for about 6 weeks now, and I've done about 1300 miles, with a mix of commuting on A/B roads and a few motorway journeys.

The car's on-board computer is showing my average petrol consumption over that period as 33mpg. This compares to BMW's quoted average of 44.8

The best I've got on a motorway run is 40mpg, BMW figure (Extra-Urban) = 50.4 !

The only consolation I take is that an average (so far) of 33mpg is better than what I got in my M135i (average 26 mpg over 2 years) -though of course, I didn't buy the M135i for its economy

You see, i could have purchased the 335d or the F48. I chose the X1 only because i thought i will have enough power as i'm mot going to be drag racing and in return i will get decent MPG.

i should have just got the 335d instead as i'm sure the Mpg would have been similar at worst a little lower but a lot more fun to drive.

A 335 is not going to give you 33 around town if you 'drive it'. My 530d only gives me 23 if hammered and 29 if I drive like a granny.... These are city driving figures, our 20i is getting around 29 around town...

2.0d xLine 2016 gives 40mpg around town, 50mpg on a cross country run.
Guess it's just your bigger engine.

MPG will improve a lot as the cars are run in.
The older N52 engines took about 20,000km to run in totally.
Diesels are similar

sDrive 20i - 320km on odo, did a 2nd fill-up today (I have this crazy obsession to fill up the car almost every other day even though only few litres are missing since the last fill up)
since the last full tank I averaged 6.9, BC shows 7.0 but that was reset later than the tank refuel.
6.9L/100 = 40.1 mpg UK , 34.1 mpg US

I am absolutely delighted. I never would expect such numbers from the engine.

Heck. I saw 38K average over 27K miles over the 18 months I had my 335D. That was a lot of driving at all speeds & conditions.

Still on my 1st tank in my newly picked up this Monday gone F48 25D MSport & the OBC is showing 44 over the 1st 200 or so miles done.

Don't think that's bad at all so far.

Total 1700 miles Comp says Avg 35.9 Mpg...That is Mostly Urban driving in Sport/comfort..& If i am at a red light and no one is in front of me Always Full throttle!..
So far very pleased with the Mileage i'm getting...My Old VW golf 1.6 TDI i got Avg 39 Mpg in 48,000 miles...So This X1 is Fu&*ing Brilliant

I think it all depends on the speed, type of roads you commute daily. Mine are short burst, roundabout, hardly long straight stretches or anything. If there is, the foot is down.

MPG
Hi I have X1 M25 it has now done 8500miles and I have never dropped below 40mpg ,the worst and best works out at 43-52 mostly town at the moment but will easily do 52 on long runs .I myself never go by whats on the dash read out all calculations done overtime I fill up, I also have a bmw x3 3.0d and it never dips below 35mpg no matter how I drive it .maybe you should think about taking the car in for a check up just incase.
