N54 spraying gas out of fuel rail when car is off??
Wondering if I have a fuel system issue/malfunction or if I'm just an idiot.
I recently replaced bank 2 injectors and was still having cold start misfires so I started inspecting the fuel injector seating to see if I got sloppy on install(replaced bank 1 without problem a month prior) --- so after removing the file lines that attach the rail to the injectors I watched the rail spray fuel twice from the two(cyl 5 and 6) rail outlets that were exposed. First time got me right in the face and eye!(thankfully I was wearing glasses). It happened once more 10 minutes later. I then disconnected the battery. Note: I did not unplug the electrical connectors from the injectors.. so maybe the system was just doing what it was supposed to do to pressurize the rail? So.. is it normal for the fuel system to pressurize when the ignition is off?? If so, great -- that proves I'm an idiot. If not... well that could be the cause of why I'm having cold start misfires from gas puddling up on the spark plugs. Last edited by drunkentrader; 12-03-2016 at 04:15 PM.. |

With the ignition off and the fuel line depressurized you should be good to go as long as you don't mess with the ignition. That doesn't sound right.

I noticed this as well when I was replacing one of my injectors. For some reason the fuel system was still priming every 10-15 mins even when the key was out of the ignition. |

It's normal. The low side will prime if the vehicle is woken up, even without the key in the ignition. Glad to hear that you were not injured when getting a fuel facial!

Good to know it's somewhat normal. i don't have comfort access. Key was just sitting in the car. I'll just make a habit of disconnecting the battery next time I fumble with the injectors. Just put new remanufactured injectors and getting cold start misfires all multiple cylinders in bank 2.. the injectors I used to fix bank 1 worked flawlessly.
