Idle surging when turning at idle speed

When I'm turning sharply or semi-sharply when in drive or reverse at idle speed I'm getting an idle surge. It surges several times and makes the car lurch. Several weeks ago when I was reversing out of a driveway at idle speed the car almost cut off when turning (in reverse) onto the street. I'm running a Burger JB4 Performance Module and this happens when the module is completely turned off or on. Could this be the HPFP? This is very frustrating and sort of dangerous.

My car does the same sort of thing. I've noticed it turning sometimes, but it also will do it when slowing to a stop or in traffic. I changed my plugs a few weeks ago to try and mediate the problem, still there. I think next I'll try coil packs. (both needed to be changed anyways) If that doesn't work I've heard the 02 sensor could use a cleaning. I too am running a JB4 but it did this before I got the JB4.

Hope you get it figured out, good luck.

I have the same 'problem'. It is part of the software in the DME that is linked to the steering sensor.
To avoid stalling at slow speed, when the steering is on lock, the idle is increased to offset the power taken by the PS pump.
However, I think there is too much idle increase causing lurching.
When my car was in the dealership I discussed this and they did a software update but it made only a marginal difference.
I guess we just have to live with it.

Thanks - I changed my plugs about 1,000 miles ago. Didn't help...let me know if the coil packs do anything.

Interesting...I will bring this up next time I take my car in. Was it a 50% improvement at least?

When the software update was first done, it seemed like a 50% improvement but over time it seems to have reverted to how it was before the update. It does appear to be a little unpredictable, sometimes very little lurching, other times very bad

Mine does this a little, but not nearly to the degree your are describing. It never drops or gets close to stalling. It does tend to surge a little when giving it lots of steering input while moving forward under idle (no throttle).

Update: had my car at the dealer for 2 days and oddly enough they weren't able to "re-create" this issues. They increased the idle speed by 100 rpms though. I will monitor this over the next couple weeks and report back.
