Movable armrest

I purchased a movable armrest, and I would like to redye the leather. In order to do a good job, I would like to remove the leather pads, does anyone know how they are attached?

This is what I have been thinking about doing. I bought a saddle brown leather (not leatherette) and thought about going beige to match my interior or go with black (when I redo my center console) as a contrast.

But from what I can tell, the leather is put on the frame and then the frame is glued together. ie... can't take apart.

Thanks. That is what I was think was the most likely answer.

I'm going from Terra brown to black. I'm going to use a preval sprayer, and will see if I can get a nice result, with the pads on the armrest.

Just finished next to last the final coat on my arm rest. I'll touch up a few spots apply the final coat and then wait 72 hours to apply the sealer.

Looks good! Did you have any issues getting between the two cushions?

Actually, I wiped all that you see off and started all over again. Found some issues and since it is water based, it came off in about 10 minutes of scrubbing.

And then I bought a very thin paint brush and basically spread the split as far as I could and did that are first and then let dry for an hour and went over it again. Then I brushed over all the seams, under the bottom edges and small sections and let them set for an hour and then touched them up a second time. Then waited another hour and then using a shoe polish sponge, I hit the major sections. I put 4 thin coats on the main sections and blended in all the edges.

I'll be coating it with the protectant this weekend and will post new picks.

Well, the recoloring is complete.

Just have to work on the visible plastic frame now.
