E91 tyre size help needed

I picked up some MV2 reps in 19" for my pre-LCI E91

They are 8j and ET42. The guy I bought them from reckons they had 245/35/19 on them, but I was wondering if anyone can confirm whether that's the right tyre for them as I used to run 225's on my old 8j MV2

I was thinking of buying 235 as a mid ground, but didn't know whether they would rub on the body?

Check http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/, filter the drop box by either E90 or 8x19 and you will see OEM fitments recommended by BMW. ET42mm is not within spec, as most E90 8x19 are ET37. You might have to use spacers to get them to fit. Tire size recommended is 225/35R19. You might get larger tires to fit by rolling the inner fenders.

Thanks for that dude. I was thinking I might be being a little optimistic with the 235 on an 8j

Typical E9x 8" wheel offset is 34mm, so your wheels are 9mm more offset. You could run a 10 or 12mm spacer however to line things up and gain inside clearance. Typical E9x 8.5" wheels are ET37 for reference.

I've found that the E91 has plenty of room in the back, more than up front. On my E91 I'm using 8.5" 219M wheels all around (ET29). With 255/35-18 Michelin PSAS3+ tires, there is still plenty of room in the rear. On sharp compressions, the front would slightly rub, so I went with 225/40-18 tires up front. (stock camber, stock ride height).

So you think I will deffinately need 10mm spacers? Or will the wheels just sit a little further in? It will be on stock suspension

They'll be sunken in looking, but it will depend on the tire size you use whether or not it will clear the strut. I meant to say 8mm more offset in prior post. With a 225 section width tire, you probably will not have any strut rubbing issues up front.

you need to know the rim size (eg. 19x9)

google 19x9 tire size and it will tell you what tires you can use.

if 235's fit no problem, then use that. 245's are complete overkill on a 320d.

Its a 19x8 rim

I've managed to find a partworn 235/35/19 locally, so grabbing that tonight, fit to rim and test front and back, see if there is any rubbing before I lay out for a full set

At 42mm it probably will sit inside more than it should and might rub or hit something without the spacers.
