Wednesday update: Austin police have identified a man who is accused of drunken driving after he drove a $385,000 Ferrari off a bridge in Westlake last week.

According to police, 28-year-old James Allen is facing a charge of driving while intoxicated.

A witness had been stopped at a boat ramp near Redbud Trail when he saw a vehicle drive by travelling faster than 100 mph, according to police.

The witness saw the vehicle approach a sharp curve, hit its brakes and drive off the road, plummeting an estimated 50 feet into a ravine, police said.

Police and medics both smelled alcohol on Allen. Two passengers, a man and a woman, were in the Ferrari. The woman suffered numerous lacerations from the crash, police said.

At a hospital, Allen told police that he had two beers at the Steampunk Saloon before driving, an arrest affidavit said.

His speech was “slurred and rapid” during an interview. At times he was belligerent, the affidavit said.

Tuesday: A person who was charged with driving under the influence drove a $385,000 Ferrari off a bridge in Westlake, went airborne for 40 feet and crashed into the woods while speeding on Friday night, Austin fire officials said Tuesday.

The driver and two other occupants had only minor injuries, fire officials said.

A witness who saw the crash estimated the driver was going over 100 mph, fire officials said. The driver failed to make the turn after passing over the Redbud Trail bridge as he or she headed toward Westlake Drive, officials said.

Fire officials said they cannot release the driver’s name because they are not a law enforcement agency and it is not within their purview to do so.

They survived the crash because the roof is still intact.
But yeah...They were very lucky !
