8 Speed Auto Leather Shifter
Does anyone know if you can swap your standard plastic/rubber 8 Speed auto shifter for the leather one they use in the new cars without having to swap the entire unit at an OUTRAGEOUS cost? I'm not talking about the "sport" transmission shifter.
My wife's 14 335i has been in the dealership the last couple of days and they gave us a 2017 X3 Sdrive28i base model loaner and I noticed how much nicer the leather shifter feels than the plastic/rubber one BMW used to use.

I should have taken a picture of it. It was identical to the stock shifter on my car but instead of the back side of it being that textured plastic stuff it was leather wrapped. Maybe its new for 2017

Can you post a picture of yours? If its smooth and not textured it is probably leather.
