Anybody here actually used JOM coilovers ??

I've got a feeling I may get slated but I'd like anyone to give me their opinion on JOM coilovers that has actually had or got these fitted to their BMW. I will be buying these for my car as they have a 2 year guarantee and are cheap! I had a similar situation with nankang ultra sport tyres on my e34 where everybody body slated them except one person who had them fitted and I could not fault them. I think people have JOMs fitted but don't like to admit the fact! So who's got them?!

ive got JOM coilovers on my E92 and my Z4 3.0 . Rate them highly, anyone who slags them off either

a) read something on a forum which they then transpired to their own knowledge of them being shit and never actually used them

b) has had them on a different type of car (i.e. a saxo) where the bushes / other suspension components are a load of crap so they are not comparable.

Ive had over 20 sets of jom coilovers on BMWs (mainly E46's) And not one issue.

Basically most cars are on 100k plus and the shocks will be past their best anyway.

Even if you get the standard 2 years out of them - its still massive value for money IMO. They are obviously not as compliant as your OEM equipment, but you pays your money you takes your choice.

Just my 2p.

personally I don't know. mixed reviews but someone on the facebook forum is selling them for £225 which I think is a small discount on the price advertised on their website.

Thanks Jamie, that's the sort of input I was after. I won't be tracking my e92 and dont do a vast amount of miles I went from 17inch runflats to 19 inch non runflats and already that's made an improvement. Any chance of uploading some pics of your e92 Jamie. I'm running 265 9.5j at the rear so hoping I won't have clearance issues when it's lowered.

Everything I've heard about these is that you get what you pay for. They're disposable and that they're valve'd and sprung pretty soft. Higher you keep them the better they are.

I'd personally rather (and have) spent more on suspension, but they're not unsafe and I don't think they're bad for the money.

You really don't need them unless going super low, I haven't fitted any to mine and it's been fine.

That's pretty low! Do you notice much if any improvement in the handling?

The e92 I don't think are a good handling car anyway compared to the e46 I replaced. The handling is OK but I don't think it'll ever be amazing. I'd say it corners a little less wallowy anyway.

Soooo...... I got some JOMs and the wouldn't fit! The coilover hit the inside of the wheel big time. Spacers wouldn't work because of my offset. So I've sent them back and opted for tein lowering springs. Might have something to do with my offset et35 and 8.5 j!!!

Yeah your wheels are tucked pretty far in, mine was almost touching with 8.5 et35, I put a 13mm spacer on, looked much better.

I've run 8.5j et36 with coilovers (Ohlins though) and still cleared but ran a 10mm spacer anyway and was fine.
I'm now running 9.5j et25 with 5mm spacer to clear the Ohlins too.

Why would the spacer not work as you should have the arch space to run atleast a 10mm spacer?

Well when i say spacers wouldn't work... We didn't actually get that far because my mechanic reckoned they would definitely rub the arches and we didn't have any so i said box it all back up. So after a brief discussion we decided that lowering springs are the way to go as they will sit above the wheel rather than next to it.
