White halo ring advice

Looking to upgrade my yellow halo rings for my e91 lci xenon headlights to the white ones.

Ive seen lots of options on ebay but I would like to get it right first time to avoid the hassle of fitting and not being happy, so any advice and photos would be appreciated.

I am using this company to sort out the rings on my 335i, taking the head lights apart, and fitting some very bright rings and some custom paint work while they are apart.

It really depends on budget.

Yes you can get your lights upgraded by Simon at KYCS (I have already LOL) but then it's not a cheap option if you just want to get rid of the yellow.

Replacement LED bulbs would certainly be way cheaper.

As long as it's a decent company make you go for you should be fine.

Am I right in thinking the standard yellow look is due to be powered by a halogen bulb?...and that by replacing those with LED types will produce the 'white' look?

These LED bulbs seem cheap on Ebay but maybe they are dodgy Chinese ones?

Which brands do people recommend?

These Lux bulbs are £300!!

As stated by the guys beforehand it all depends on your budget. I opted for Bulb upgrade to LED option to give the white look rather than replacing the rings completely.

I have a an LCI without xenon, and my brother has a pre lci with xenon.

We both brought some from the same guy on ebay and are well impressed with them. Had them for maybe 6 months plus now no issues.
And the light output is good

Thanks for the replies, the top end of the budget at the moment is £100.

Im not waiting to paint them or any major mods at the moment, so a direct replacement just in white is what I'm after.

Im just being careful because I've read some horror stories online about cheap bulbs/leds running too hot and melting the ring ..... I really don't want that to happen as i can't imagine that the adaptive xenons are cheap to replace.

I ordered mine from horizonled buddy, I see a thread on here of people saying the customer service was bad but I took the gamble and they ended up upgrading my bulbs to the better version, nice easy install, and very white halos! Really recommend them bro, they are around 50 quid bro and sometimes have discount codes running

Few things to point out;

1- You have OEM solution to change those yellow lights to white LEDs. You do not have to cut / open and modify like E92 owners are doing. E90/ E91 headlights are difficult to work and hence only few guys take the risk.

2- All those companies mentioned above deal with E92/ E93 headlights. I guess there are few guys who can work on these but do you really want others to play with your headlights and then you start getting condensation.

3- I have had many LED H8 lights including lux V3. They are overpriced chinese lights. Go for them if you prefer brand name over functionality.

4- I have tried multiple ones and found these to be as bright as lux v3.

They are proper 80 watts.

Good luck.

xenons4u supplied me with two H8-35watt lights for £10 delivered 3 months ago. They give a white light and I am very happy with them. The gas in the bulb is xenon and not halogen.

Makkan, the ones you list, what are they like during daylight? obviously not as bright as the newest BM's.

Very comparable to lux v3 and better than many other fake 40w each.
They are truly bright and I had to return few before I kept these.

My mrs had another set of 40w on her car but they are less brighter than mine.

HTH.

Finally managed to get around to fitting the new bulbs yesterday, which took some time as with the 330i the air filter box had to be removed to fit the bulbs because there just isn't enough room on that side.

I thought it was going far too well after checking and everything was working and looking good. Went for a 5 mile drive to park up and get some decent photos when suddenly the dreaded BMW "Bong" rears its ugly head! After parking up and checking only one side was working

So now I need to wait for HIDsdirect to get back to me about a replacement.

I have just purchased 2010 E90 325d LCI which seems to have halogens (not xenons) and the rings are yellow. Please see attached picture.

Can you guys kindly recommend and send me links for the following which will fit my model:

1. Bulbs to upgrade yellow halo rings to bright white

2. Bulbs to upgrade fog lights to bright white

3. Is the bulb used for lighting up the halo rings in (1) the same bulb used for lighting up the actual headlamp for night time driving? Or is that a separate bulb? What about the high beams is that also a different bulb?

Thanks

These are only photo's so far as one light is still not working

Not convinced that the outta ring is bright enough? The inner is super bright though.

I ended up buying these ones: http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/bmw-h8-...0-92-93-x5-x6/
