Insanity. I applaud them for making this and it will be interesting to see how the other big two manufacturers respond.

Isn't many 335 out there who do 9sec 1/4 currently? I know at least 3 on this forum, all with single turbos, but many more of them out there, like this one for example:

I bet a 6-pack that he will walk away from that Demon

What the hell? There are plenty of LSx Beetles that would walk either, but neither the Bug or the old E90 are available from a dealer, with a warranty and can pass emissions tests.

Damned impressive.

Naturally that's a very impressive 1/4 mile time for a factory stock, street legal car.

It is interesting to me that although the car has a 315mm square setup, many press photos show skinny tires on the front, like this one:

I don't suppose it ships with the second set of front wheels/tires? Assuming not, presumably putting the heavier 315s on would slow it down a touch.

And does it have a warranty or comes from the factory running 9's.

That was a big debate with the tire size. First people were thinking it was going to be AWD. Because it just HAD to be with that tire setup all around.

But it comes with a set of small tires for up front and some "track kit" that has a whole bunch of drag strip stuff. If it comes with the 315s all around, its just Dodge's way of giving people 2 sets of drag radials.

Besides, it would be stupid to take a RWD car to the strip with 315's all around. Every 10lbs of rotating mass is a tenth of a second.

Now, lets see how much this Demon cost and how much the Dealers are going to mark it up. I'll say $30k is going to be the starting point for the mark ups. Price...I haven't a clue but maybe $100k? It is limited production of 3000 for the US.

True haha. However, I wouldn't exactly call it a "factory car". A limited production car that is a highly tuned already from "the factory" - it's basically very similar to a custom tuned 335. Save for warranty maybe, you are right, but I bet those who buy Demon won't buy it because of factory warranty lol

My initial point was more to acknowledge a fact that I'm sure many people will know Demon due to it's show off fancy naming and aggressive body style and looks, but very few know that a sleeper Germany luxury sedan can sent that Demon back to hell hole it came from lol

I don't think a single turbo 335 requires a engine swap like a LS Beetle lol. Warranty? You can have all the warranty you want for the money, just shop around. I don't have to tell you that for a $4k you can have all inclusive warranty that will cover bumper to bumper - much better than what Dodge is offering on that Demon

Is it really what we are discussing - a warranty?

A 2.7L supercharger is huge! It's super impressive in stock form. With a smaller pulley and tune, it's going to be even more bonkers!

Ok so if it comes with the skinny wheel/tire combo for track day, then that explains the pictures.

Not sure it would have to be "stupid" (and I acknowledge that you were just speaking colloquially) - I would say it could merely be considered pragmatic. Lots of people take their cars to the track and simply run them on the standard wheel/tire combo. A wheel/tire combo, I will add, that was chosen by the manufacturer because the car is designed to do more than just go down a drag strip. And, although this car was clearly built with that goal as a primary one, it still has to be able to go around a corner once in a while too.

Anyway, no doubt the Demon will still pummel essentially any factory stock car in the quarter mile even if you run it with the 315s in front, so it's hardly worth any temptation to hair split. I just noticed the discrepancy and figured I'd bring it up to see if I could get the skinny (pun intended) on that. So thanks for the info.

It absolutely is a factory car by definition. What you choose to call something is your choice but in the interest of having a meaningful discussion, we'll used the established convention. And since the topic of the thread is the car and not to dissect the particularities of the parlance, we won't spend any more time debating that bit.

A car without a warranty, and additionally one that does not have to clear dozens of regulatory hurdles of varying complexity and origin is an altogether different animal from a product I can go out and buy at a dealership. Let's not conflate the two, and again, let's not pull the thread off topic by rehashing a well worn debate.

Cars & Coffee gatherings with one of these around will surely require high chain-link fencing and SAFER barriers ...

Nuts. But props to Dodge. It had to do something to offset the demise of the Viper ...

The Challenger is a decade old and rides on an even older platform. It's mighty impressive what they were able to achieve with a car that's so dynamically mediocre to start with. This is the one and only time in history I'm complimenting Chrysler so props to the guys and gals who worked on this project.

Meanwhile, the Tesla fanboys on their forums are finding ways to rag on this. One guy even said "nobody but a skilled driver could achieve those numbers, whereas its so easy in the Model S even a grandma can do it." The clown doesn't realize that's the whole point of a performance car. The fun is in developing the skills to exploit their limits, not just mashing your foot down which a monkey could be trained to do. It's just more proof that Tesla fans aren't real car guys.
