Can an aftermarket head unit be fitted to am I drive car ?

Just wondering if it would be possible to fit something like this to a car the comes from factory equipped with idrive ( 2005 ccc I believe)

I know it might seem daft as I would lose the use of the idrive but just wondering if it's even possible todo ?

There's no reason you couldn't remove the iDrive just like you can retrofit it. So I'd start by reading retrofit guides and go from there.

I'd suggest a CIC retrofit over an aftermarket unit though.

between £750 and £1200 depending on who you go to and what is exactly required. (those are examples of the lowest and highest quotes I have received)

As you already have the dashboard trim and centre console trim it would be cheaper to go CIC.

What is it about the current set up that is pushing toward a ghetto install?

I just thought a ghetto install would have been available for around under £500 ?
