Excellent race, very entertaining and alot of place shuffles. Ferrari have a very good car now! Quite a few retirements too.
Awesome driving from HAM in the latter part, just a few more laps and he would have been on the back of VET

Now the season is getting interesting. The race pace of Ferrari is legit, the only down side was they need an extremely good start due to one lap qualifying pace still falls short, and closely follow the Mercedes to allow them to overcut/undercut.

During the safety car I was worried will be the same again, oh not again.

Agree. Definitely a more competitive picture than the past three years!

So, was Bottas overrated, currently driving a lesser car, or just still in the learning the car phase? His lack of race pace was very evident.

How about none of the above? His car was having problems in the later stages of the race, something that's happened to Lewis countless times - for example, when Rosberg took the championship last year.

Later stages?? I seem to recall a 5-6 car train backed up behind him nearly from the start.

True, but I don't think he was markedly slower than Hamilton until the last stint. He got pole, so he (and his car) are capable.

Look at Kimi; when's the last time he hasn't had a problem with his car, relative to his teammate?

Bottas just doesn't seem to have a killer instinct. It's early though so maybe he can get it sorted out, provided it's the car and not him. I had high hopes for him, but it could be too late. He's looking more and more like a #2 driver. Heck, Wehrlein would probably be doing just as well.

As for Kimi, he's had horrible luck. Again, assuming it's really the car and not him. Some guys are harder on their equipment. Hamilton certainly is.

Not sure if it was covered in SkyF1 or Ted's Notebook. But a compressor or generator fail on the grid prevented the mechanics to properly adjust Bottas tire pressures. Also a low pressure air canister did not provide sufficient pressure for the wheel gun during pitstop, thus a slower pitstop for Bottas and ultimately blocked HAM when they stacked.

But looking at this season, the Mercedes seems to be more "knife-edge" and not easy to adapt to certain track/tire/driver/set up. The sweet spot range is very narrow.
Somehow Ferrari works well with almost all range of tires.
