DME Woes How Do I Fix This?
2007 335xi
DME is toast even after fixing the MOSFETs. Still no good. Car is paper weight now After searching I can't find everything I need to fix this myself I don't have the money to have BMW fix it. I see I need the DME and the key slot. Anything else I need? Can someone take mercy on me and give me run down of what I need when buying a used DME and Installing it. |

Not sure if a used DME will work. You will need the "keycoder" program for this. Linky
Alternately you could use these guys, but not sure how much they charge. And here's a rundown of how things work. You can start from page1 to let the whole thing sink in, or you could jump staright to post #29. I don't think you need a key slot. Hope this helps a little, and maybe points you in the right direction. GL and keep us posted. This is an interesting topic - no pun intended.

Thanks for your input.
It's a bit disoreintig trying to sift through all this info. Wind really was blown outta my sails when the mosfet fix didn't work. Amazing how a perfectly running car is made junk by the damn dme. Either way I'll update as needed and when I find a fix |
