idrive controller knob mod.

So I bought this controller knob cover from amazon. It turned out really good! I hated the smaller knob.

I bought the same from eBay (Hong Kong) and it fitted in 5mins and great upgrade rather than spending fortune to change whole thing

Cool! It looks awesome at night too. I like how the light shines from underneath. Very inexpensive but cool upgrade.

But if the car has the small knob wouldn't this one just cover up most of the buttons? It would have to extend over and make the function buttons less visible.

Nope. Even when the smaller knob was on it, it still had a larger circular trim under it. The larger knob is the same diameter as that circular trim. Basically ends up being the exact same dimensions as if it came that way.

How did you disassemble the original dial? Mine seems to be very securely fastened...

get thinnest flat screw driver and gently try to pry out from one side , it is very easy mate but don't be brutal when you doing it and you wouldn't need to anyway

Yeah I used the corner of a razor to pry it off. Was pretty easy.

The only concern I had when it was done was the fact that you don't really get a good sense of whether or not it is fully installed. There is no "click" or "snap". It just presses down on the smaller controller. But it works.

Hi...i am a new user here. Even i bought this, so as per my observation when the smaller knob was on it, it still had a larger circular trim under it. The larger knob is the same diameter as that circular trim. Basically ends up being the exact same dimensions as if it came that way.

Will these dials replace/work on the F30 non-navi setup? My non-navi setup only has 3 buttons across the top as seen in the picture. It only allows for left/right movement (no up and down).

I don't think they will. The new knob grabs onto the silver Navi version knob. It slides over it and in between the various grooves of the existing handle. I could be wrong. But I don't think so.

It actually is possible. But not with the product linked above.

Check this link:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/iDri...f-8608ed00acbb

And select Color name: B

What has stopped me from purchasing this is the print on the knob itself. On our knob the top part spins, which would make the print turn around too. If they would sell one without any print I would buy it!

Can someone please tell me how big the gap between the knob and the base of the idrive is supposed to be? Mine 'floats' about 5 to 7mm (estimate, not measured) above the base and i think the gap should be smaller... Also, does anyone finds the big knob to be noisy? I can hear the plastic top rubbing against the ring. I put some adhesive felt on the underside of the top wich improved it a little, but i think it still sounds cheap. I'm also going to stick some sound deadening material to the top trying to eliminate the annoying sound...
