Is this worth $12k (07 335i)

Im in the market for a e92 n54 335i and I think I have found a pretty well maintained car but it has higher kilometers at 160,000km. New turbos and injectors 20,000km ago. Water Pump and thermostat both replaced under warranty not sure about HPFP. No iDrive but does have the sports package. Its an auto which i was in the market for, guy selling it has maintenance records from BMW as it came out of extended warranty in January.

Depends on your location, doesn't sound like you're in the US, here that's an $8k car.

Values are higher than 8k for 100k miles 335i if you're buying and not trading it

Maybe a POS one but if your car is in good condition you shouldn't give it away.
There's plenty of crap ones for that price but I assume he wants a nice one.

A similarly optioned car goes for around $14k with 129,000KM where im located in canada. This seems to have been really well maintained, I normally wouldn't look at one above 150,000km

OP is talking about a car that cost $9k roughly in USD
In Canada 335s for some reason can be found for same price as 328s (if you look long enough). I don't know why, maybe because folks in general there don't know much about difference and all it matters is that it's a BMW. Which is good for OP, he can buy 335 for less. They even have 323i and lots of 325i there.

OP in your case go for it - as main issue turbos were replaced (that's like $3-4k at least). It's a n54, so you are entering a world of pain man, but for the price car is selling you can't complain man. Just check condition, test-drive and do a PPI if possible

Yes, that is exactly the reason! Where did I put my Boss snow shovel?

Didn't want to offend or anything, I was at one point considering buying a Canadian 335 myself and then bringing it to US (PITA, but economically feasible). It's because USD/CAD is 1.36 right now, so for example a $12k 335i in Canada would cost me only $8.8k USD

Besides Canadian 335s are all better equipped with winter packages by default and some other perks.

For example take a look at this 2008 e90 335i RWD AT 100k miles (no sport package tho) goes for $8.5k CAD which is only $6.3k USD - this is the car one can buy and make it a project car and mod it tastefully http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/h...ationFlag=true

And compare it to a similar 2008 e90 328i RWD 6MT (the only difference) 100k miles (no sport package) goes for $13.5k CAD which is $10k USD! http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/l...ationFlag=true

Any reason why 328i is almost twice more expensive than similar 335i? Main reason is that it's (Sparta) Canada lol - folks there don't know the difference

I would go for an n55 e92 but those start at around 20K Canadian here. With a well maintained one like this, I dont think ill run into too many issues

After doing a quick search it does look like the pre-lci 335's are relatively cheap. I would guess that many buyers opt for the 328 to avoid maintenance costs, regardless of their preference.

Also, the combo of RWD + 6MT is harder to find up here, but $13.5k is a very high price for that mileage and without the sport package (I paid less than that through a BMW dealer two years ago for a 328i with 6MT, RWD and SP).

Not worth it for the mileage. Usually the lower mileage cars are the ones commanding a premium price.

For that price, you would be better off getting a lower mileage car or newer car (N55). Even if it is a little more money, you will spend that money or more maintaining the 2007 anyway.

At 12k Canadian this is one of the lower priced ones, a similar car with 130km would go for about 15k. This has the turbos recently replaced along with injectors those are two of the most expensive repair bills. If I was to buy a 130km car I would end up paying the bill for new turbos

I don't necessarily agree with this. With any other used 335 you're on borrowed time with the original turbo's and water pump. Those are the two biggest and most common failures on this vehicle.

If they were both replaced on the 2007 model, the turbo's should last another 80,000 to 100,000+ miles easy. You'll be lucky to get that out of any other original turbo, especially if it's been beaten on or tuned.

All dealership records and major component replacements? Sounds well maintained to me.

This is my exact thinking, I just want to make sure i'm not missing anything here. I don't see the benefit in buying a 130km N54 for $15k on OEM, turbos when I can get this with recently replaced turbos.

As a point of reference, $11,500 recently got me a 2009 335i Xdrive coupe with navigation, comfort access, heated sport seats, 80K miles, and an extended warranty for another 6 months.

Thats almost $16k Canadian cars here seem to be a bit more expensive. A similarly spec'd car would probably run 19k+.

It depends heavily on your location. Some cars can go for twice as much just because they are in a different state.
