Raced a Camaro SS + Mustang GT

Not sure how this forum treats racing.. so we can assume this was definitely on a closed track.
I drive a BMW 335i e92 MHD Stage 2 with VRSF Catless DPS
*Note* For both races I raced with the Stage 2+ (FMI Required)
Anyways, I raced a Mustang GT with X-pipe, CAT Delete, Cold Air Intake, Tune, and Long tune headers. He pulled on me right away and by 160 he got me by around 3 cars. Good race all around, he estimated around 450-475 whp.

Then later I raced a Camaro SS 2016 with 8 speed Automatic. He had Cold Air intake, Exhaust, and he mumbled something about a Throttle body or something? Not sure about that.
1st Race I beat him by 5 cars - I beeped to fast in all fairness, so he got a late jump.
2nd + 3rd Race I beat him by 2/3 cars. All around good race, absolutely loving the car so far. Now for FBO e40 haha.

Also, couldn't find a live kill post.

Mustang had a lot more power than I had expected to be honest, a lot more than the Camaro that's for sure. The Camaro was practically stock while the Mustang had a few things down to it, the big hitter being Headers.

Yes, closed course and all. The road trip was lengthy, but at least it was just highway miles to Mexico.

Mustang had a few mods, mostly headers and tune putting it forward while the Camaro was basically stock.

The Mustang GT is definitely a nice, powerful car, that sounds good. Especially the Non turbo engine.

I think that Mustang owner is a little optimistic with that rwhp. It is probably closer to 410-430 rwhp. Depending on the year it is. A tune really wakes those cars up. I had a 2011 GT m6 that has cat delete tubes, air intake, tune, suspension, and slicks. It went 11.44 @ 116. Then 11.1 @ 120 (440 rwhp on dynojet) with a Cobra Jet intake manifold. My 2015 GT A6 with headers, tune, e85, and drag radials went 11.7 @ 115 the only time I had it out. I had some issues as I couldn't figure out the auto. Haha There was a issue with the burn out, too high of an rpm, and it causing the trans to shift early. I hope to go 11.4-11.5 the next time out. The coyote motor runs strong. No doubt.

My 335xi auto e90 has 5" FMIC, DCI, and MHD stage 1+ tune. It is getting catless down pipes, turbo inlets, and MHD stage 2+ installed this week. I can't wait to run it and the GT at the track. See what they both run under the same conditions. I love driving both cars. But the E90 is smoother and refined compared to the GT. Similar performance with different feels for sure. But I am so glad I fell into buying the 335i. It's fun to mod, was cheap, and a joy to drive.

The Mustang has to be most modded cars in the USA. Aren't you a car guy? lol

A tune really wakes them up. 390-400 rwhp is very easy to get with the Coyote (2011-17 5.0) engines.

LOL

I easily beat tuned mustangs with my FBO N54, only time i have any problems is when they are supercharged

Maybe you need a supercharger or turbo for you Mustang? hahaha It's amazing how much that motor likes boost. The intake ports flow over 300 cfm stock. 650-700 rwhp is so easy. Some buddies have superchargers and ran into the 9's pretty easily. I remember how much money and work the old pushrod 5.0 took to make that kind of power. lol

But having a N54 and Mustang isn't a bad thing at all. Who doesn't like a little family competition?

Last time I heard best x-drive (335) 1/4 time was 11.1sec and guy was about to install single turbo next, so I'm sure he will get mid 10s - probably limit for x-drive

I've experienced this firsthand just recently.. It was a sad night lol.. Although it was still very very close, he was inching away from me after I had about a 1 car gap on him.. Once I get my new lpfp, and retune for e85, I'm sure i'll get that W back haha..

Op what year GT...

What I am kind of surprise on the GT is the fact it walked away. I have 335i and my son has an 03 GT with all kinds of mods, he is pushing 350HP and 385 lbs of torgue and he has a hard time putting the power to the wheels unless he running sticky tires and playing the peddle. Off the line he beats the 335, but once the turbo fully kick in at second gear the 335 begins walking away. But we never went past 65 of 70.

OP, I have also run the same cars in my 335 diesel - A Coyote Mustang and a SS Camaro, both with long tube headers, tune, etc, etc....I've also run an Audi RS5 and SRT8 Challenger with 100 shot of nitrous.

I pulled both the Yote and Chevy much easier than I thought - granted my 335d makes close to 490/680 at the wheels.

It wasn't even a race for the Audi or the Dodge.

.mx seems popular this year.
A c6 Grandsport (auto) seems to be a little down on power to a MHD N54..

;-)

A C7 auto would be interesting. After 115-120, I imagine it would start to put some distance.
