MV4 nightmare
Hi there ,
My beloved e92 msport 2008 which I have owned for 5 months and love by the way has mv4 19" all round . Unfortunately after a trip to get new tyres I was told that my rears have 6 cracks in total . 5 in one and 1 in the other. I'm going to have the fronts checked today . I'm devastated as I love the car but this has cast a shadow over my ownership . I am thinking of ditching them completely and getting some reps from CM WHEELS on non RF tyres still 19" though. My question is , how strong are the rep wheels bearing in mind that the originals are a joke , I only do 5k miles a year and I'm very careful regarding pot holes etc so the present wheels were obviously knackered before I bought the car . Can anyone on here recommend some strong Oem looking rep alloys . Also a reputable alloy company . Thank you . Neil |

It is the run flats that kill them.
Plus the ride difference is amazing! I've just gone from an E91 with 19's, non run flats and Eibach Pro springs to an E91 with MV3's (18"), standard suspension and run flats. The new one wanders all over the road and isn't remotely as stable or planted as the old one was. There is a small roundabout near me that I could literally throw my car into confidently in the old one, in the new one I wouldn't even dare! Looks like Ive got to do some upgrades |

I was in a similar situation, hit a pothole on the A428 which ruined one of the rear alloys. Only had the car for a week and considered getting a replica set of 359M from CM Wheels at the time but I loved the look of the MV4 so bit the bullet and ordered a new rim from BMW. 60K miles later (on Non RFT Goodyear Asymmetric 2) and it's still in one piece.

Lower the pressure in the rear. Tyre shops seem to want to put nearly 50psi in them. Not surprised they crack when the tyre I'd as hard as stone. I run around 35psi all round and never had an alloy crack on me yet
