Gooey, gummy, sticky rubbers
On my wife's 2008 335i E92, the bottom windshield moulding and the trunk latch are both soft, sticky and gooey. If you touch them, you'll get black on your fingers. Much like the (IIRC) butyl rubber that holds the plastic liner to the inside of the door to protect the door card on many cars. I searched but didnt get any hits. Besides replacing them are there any options to harden them back up? Thanks, Jim |

You could try Gummipflege (nextzett). In the olden days, when one would buy a BMW, the dealer would give the 1st stick for free for rubber maintenance - all rubber moldings, around doors, windows and trunk/engine bay. You might get lucky, but no guarantees. I use this stuff twice/year, and all my rubbers look like new.
