Extend Maintenance Plan or not? Is it worth the cost?
Yes, I am sure this has been covered before but I figured I would bring it up again . Looking for opinions to see if I should personally extend my maintenance plan for a year at the cost of roughly $1150 or forgo it and go to a BMW Indy shop when I need maintenance done?
Here is what I was told was covered, if I am missing something let me know. With this said, the SA told me if I do extend it and, as an example, my brake caliper gets stuck or rotors get warped I WOULD have to pay, brakes are only covered when actually due for maintenance. Front brakes: Currently at 7mm Rear brakes: Currently at 5mm (has to be 4mm or under for warranty replacement, was told it would cost $750 on average) Oil change: Brake fluid: Due on 3/2018 Brake fluid: Replaced on 7.22.2017 Cabin filters: Replaced on 7.22.2017 Engine air filters Spark plugs Remote/ Control/Key Battery Vehicle check: Don't even know what this is I should add I am NOT a mechanic and do not have a place nor expertise to work on cars other than replacing wiper blades and minor things like that. . Car is at 46k and maintenance plan ends August 4th.

It all depends on where you want to get your service done. If you want it at BMW then yes get the extended maintenance plan. If not, just make sure its at a good shop and get the services done on time.
I personally didn't because I can do some of the stuff at home like brakes & oil |

If you're certain you will replace your brakes... the math would probably make you net neutral.
It's a tough call... prepay or pay as you go. The only problem is that the dealer oil change interval is long so it's not like you could even get a few of those done on the plan....unless you're racking up miles....which you would probably have more expensive repairs as a result. For me, the value isn't there (which BMW has done a great job of pricing this). If it were 2 years at $1150... definitely. My fear would be that your brakes would eeek past the 1 year mark and the replacement wouldn't be paid for by the plan.
