Mot history check
With nothing better to do I decided to check up on my old 1995 e36 328i which I'd owned since 2001.
I part exchanged it with my 335i back in July 2012. It had been motd in June & passed with a longish list of advisories but nothing major, a set of tyres, rear pads, front brake hoses, lose exhaust heat shields, lose door trim, oil leak, discoloured side repeaters. When I handed it over it had all the old mots & 11 years worth of invoices & receipts & had covered 136,200 miles. July 9th 2013 it fails its mot due to: offside rear vehicle structure has excessive corrosion seriously effecting its strength within 30cm of body mountings off side front vehicle structure is damaged seriously effecting its strength within 30cm of body mountings. The Mileage is now 102,261 13th July 2013 it passes its mot with five advisories: oil leak, supplementary restraint warning lamp not illuminating, front lower suspension arm bush deteriorated but no excessive movement the same for anti roll bar linkage Underbody covered in under seal. Unable to inspect. Surely if the guy doing the mot can't inspect something how can he give it a pass? I also thought with the dvla database & mileage being recorded that the mot station would have noticed 34000 miles disappearing The car has been on a sorn since July 2014 So my much beloved 328i was clocked, probably in some kind of accident bodged up, sold & then driven in a unsafe condition for a year. Wish I hadn't looked now The only pic I have of it is the day it was taken away

I do it on any car that I buy.
Just did it on my old 328i as well. Last year it failed on brake pipes (I knew they were going a couple of years ago) and it did over 10k miles last year!

Wish I had not seen this post, since selling all of my old cars with clear passes no advisories etc there history is just a list of advisories and fails some for the most ridiculous things like tyres not mounted as per side wall instructions?! From cars that never wanted for anything they are now uncared for potential death traps what's even more shocking is the current owners obviously have kids in there (notes on child seats) so have no regards not only to their own but their child's safety ? it's madness!

I used it to check out a Audi A6 avant Quattro I was tempted by, glad I did as it had a long & expensive list of advisorys that were not mentioned in the add.
