please answer if you are a police or heard from police...

i just picked up crimson red e92 few days ago. my cpa advised me to set aside some money for the future speeding tickets...

do cops really target red cars more just cuz it's red and it's more eye-catching?

i'd like to hear from actual police men...

thanks!

well i am not an actual police man, but this is a dumb question, no offense. yeah, certain colors are going to get more attention, but it is more about how you drive and where you speed than what color your car is. sounds like a stupid comment from your CPA.

yeah he was just joking...but i thought there's element of truth in his comment...

he also said that he's been driving silver taurus and cops don't seem to see him speeding no matter how fast he's going...

I've heard that red cars "look" like their going faster, so cops might stop you more often.... thats what my father told me at least....

It is easier to spot a red or yellow car in a sea of silvers and greys against the road on the horizon and to notice if it is going faster.

i don't buy it. i just think if a cop sees you speeding, it doesn't matter what color.

of course, shiny new red BMW's don't hurt...as far as cops wanting to nail your ass.

i had a imola red m3, and i got two tickets within two weeks of ownership. I guess driving the car like an idiot didn't help! HAHA

In Europe you have to pay more for insurance if you buy a red or yellow car. They are involved in more speeding accedents. So it could be that people who get these colors are more like the colors of thier cars. And the police are also psykologic educated.

I can buy that argument, that people who like the flashier colors are more likely to drive flashier, and bright colors are usually found on sportier cars, not minivans.

I received more tickets with Red Celica GT (1985-87) than all of my other cars combined. NOT scientific but it was the last red car I will ever buy???

There's no data to support that claim. But since you have a red car drive carefully and within the limits.

i'm like a magnet with tickets, its so stupid.

If you are unique on the road, cops will pull you over.

I tend to always keep my cars clean.... but lets say for example:

I didn't wash my car for about two weeks..... yesterday I gave it a nice wash...

Well see how long I last.... (knock on comp desk wood)

I agree, actually white cars get less tickets, and having a red car doesn't mean you're more likely to be ticketed:

http://www.snopes.com/autos/law/redcars.asp

Apparently gray cars are the most frequently ticketed, at least in the limited study cited by the Snopes article.

Assuming that they're not using radar, color doesn't matter then, they have to see you first to pace/track... you. Standout colors like red and yellow will attract someone's attention before a less visible color will. The other aspect which will quickly attract an observer's attention is a car travelling at a high rate of speed past a number of slower moving vehicles. As told to me by friends in low places.

it all has to do with how you drive no matter what color/mods you have on the car.

Yes color matter.

I got 12 speeding tickets in 1 year with a red mustang and have not got a single speeding ticket in the past 6 years in either of my black cars (and I speed a lot still :knock on wood: ) I did get pulled over on my crotch rocket last summer though... but what can you expect on a lime green bike wearing a lime green jacket and helmet?

I can only speak for myself and what I have seen at work. Color does not matter. We go after the violation. We also don't write that many tickets where I work. I tend to stop more white and gray/silver vehicles - that's what's on the road. Last red car I put on the side was a 3-day old M3 coupe - he got a warning and I got a tour. I also had pulled out on him before I knew what color it was - night time, he was approaching.

12 speeding tickets in 1 year?

What a load of BS. I don't know of any state that would allow you to continue driving after maybe 3 or 4 speeding tickets.
