Legal rear light tints limit?

Good morning,

After some advice please, im looking to tint my rear lights on my E92 335d.

My Plan was to simply mask off each light, dust sheet the full car and then apply 2-3 coats of spray on tint until I got the desired darkness. Then apply spray on sealer and job done.

Since ive been looking into it, I cant find anywhere that will state 100% the limits. Does anyone know? Does anyone have experience completing this sort of work? Any recommendations?

Just put some black tights over them
