Nixon and Mido?
Hey guys,
Somewhat of a watch novice and I'm looking for a nice black bezel automatic. I owned a Hamilton in the past, which was great but on this go around a few Mido and Nixons have caught my eye. Any quality with those makers? Thanks |

They both seem OK ,I have not seen Mido watches but have read and heard good things on it . There's a site who quite often reviews Mido watches .It seems it delivers good value for its price
www.horbiter.com talks highly on it whereas watchsnob quite often thrashes Nixon watches

Most of the Nixon watches I see are kind of big and clunky for my tastes, with 45+ mm cases, but I glanced at their website and see they have many watches in the 39-42 mm range.
My daily driver is a Milgauss, so when a watch seems big to me, that says a lot. Although the case is only 40mm, it stands pretty high at 14mm and weighs quite a bit. I put it in the safe while I was out camping last week and the Aquaracer I've been wearing seems positively svelte by comparison. |

Nixon IMO is a juvenile watch brand that a grown man shouldn't be wearing. teenager/early 20s maybe....thwy are overpriced and you can find a way better used watch instead if buying Nixon brand new.

start off with a decent citizen eco drive. you can get a good one brand new for the price of a nixon. much better looking, tried and true movements and a very good starting point. also, look at seiko. you can get a very good automatic seiko for the cost of a quartz nixon.

Thanks for the input. I am looking more of what to stay away from since there seem to be so many brands.
