Hi All.

Recently completed diy wash/scrub of intake valves. Although the visual results weren't as good as some of the pics seen from other people online I and am very pleased with the performance increase I got. Didn't think that I would be saying it but was as many others have said the difference is 'night and day'.
I got lazy with the clean because removing the dreaded electrical box cost me 2 hours and by the time I was on the last cylinder I was losing daylight fast.
Anyways now that I know the process i'll be doing it again to see whether I can eek out any further smoothness but am looking to go the walnut blasting route for my next go.
I already know what hopper I'll be using for the walnut grit and can pre fab a vacuum nozzle for the ports easily enough but am wondering if anyone can suggest the smallest air compressor that would be up to the job possibly from experience.
Basically I don't want to have a big tank sat in my garage afterwards.

Honestly for the price and effort of you buying kit and doing it yourself, I'd look at getting a garage to do it.
It can be as little as £250 now.

Compressor size should matter too much, the only thing is the time you'll be waiting for it to top up again once you've used it.

I'm at the £60 mark on items required at the moment (walnut media plus hopper). After doing a lot of research since posting I can get the air compressor and complete the tools for no more than 130 which is still a lot cheaper than any garage.
However, realistically (again this came out of my research) for my own self i'd be better off paying for an 8 bar, 50L air compressor since i like to diy and although I don't fancy buying a heap of air tools would no doubt end up using it for everything else on the car. Wheels, including refurb and spray and the removal of nuts and bolts.
I've decided on a space large enough in my garage to station the unit too. which won't be an inconvenience if it isn't used for a time.
I'm just debating on whether or not I really need to pull the trigger on this.
It's a bit of an 'always wanted' rather than an absolute need.
The walnut blasting made it seem like a need but i'm not so sure it's an excuse to buy

Things like blasting are really demanding on compressors, is 50litre enough? And depends if the motor can keep up with the demand or will you have to spray for 20 seconds then wait 2 minutes for it to re pressurise?

50l more than enough receiver space and 2hp engine will give a quick refill time and since i'll be dialing down the max air pressure for the job i'll get longer usage between fills..
Have been reading all day on what size compressors people use and the projects that they work on and am happy that the spec is more than I require.
