E93 Windscreen Replacement

Having my whole windscreen replaced this afternoon as its cracked from a stone hitting it on the motorway.

Just wanted to ask any tips on what to look out for to make sure the new windscreen is fitted correctly, being and e93 is there any extra steps they need to take? or special seals they need to use.

Thanks.

Who's fitting it, and do you know if the new screen is OE?

Shame you're not anywhere near London. I've got a good secondhand (genuine BMW) screen for an E92 (taken from an M3) taking up some much needed space in the lockup.

All done yesterday, the company was national windscreen repair. To have OEM would cost an extra £300 i piad £75 excess thats it. The screen is "shatterprufe" made which im told is what bmw use anyway.

Insurance said if i have any problems then i just need to pay the extra £300 and theyll change it to OEM if i want.

So far its been fine. No noise, no rattles. However i dont have auto wipers if u have these then u need to get them re configured im told.

Also had both windscreens side by side, only diffrence was the bmw logo. The tint and pattern was exactly the same.

Rubbish. Shitterprufe never got the OEM contract for BMW. They did on the C Class W203 (and other foreign vehicles) but never for BMW.

Was it the insco saying that, or the installer?

Again, rubbish. You do not need to recalibrate a rain sensor.

Recently had mine replaced, left them to it as the car was at home.. and I was at work. It was like for like and it was all done as it should have been, and I have no issues or complaints..... Some time you just have to trust them to get n with it.
