Adaptive headlights don’t work after bodyshop
Hey all,
I just got my car back from the body shop where they installed the MTech front cover and replaced both headlamp housings, swapping the electronics from the original headlamps. The adaptive functions don’t work. No initial start check, no leveling, and no swiveling. I have no error codes and at quick glance, everything is connected. Is it possible they have the control modules swapped? It’s a 2006 330i. Thanks Carl

Take it back and tell then to make it work .
Where the light modules replaced did they put the right ones in . adaptive modules have to be programmed to the car when replaced. (See coding subforum for how) Could they have been damaged in the crash? Last edited by ctuna; 09-29-2017 at 11:32 PM.. |

I know I should go back to the body shop, but it took 11 annoying weeks to get it done to begin with, so I’m trying to avoid that if possible. They didn’t switch over my LED angel eye bulbs, so they need to get me new ones.
No electronics should have been replaced, especially as it doesn’t show the part on the work order. Everything worked as it should before the body shop. I have a feeling the control boxes are switched as prior to the body shop, my DS bulb took about 5 seconds to come on and now it’s on the PS. I’ll swap them and see what happen. If it doesn’t fix it, I’ll run back through the coding process (done that a few times due to a leaky lamp housing). If that doesn’t work, I’ll go back to the shop.

It's a tight fit, but you can remove the SMC modules from the wheel well. You need a T30 torx driver if my memory serves us well.
I just removed a few fasteners from the wheel well and bumper cover to get my hands in there. Of course, you could remove the bumper and have much more space. In any case, you won't have to remove the headlights unless you want to do the AEs as well. |

Switch position is one of the first things I checked. It’s been a long time since Indrove the car and things like that are slowly coming back to me.
I swapped the control modules this afternoon and they indeed were swapped. I had replaced the PS unit about this time last year and it had markings on it from the junk yard I got it from. That one was on the DS. I look to be back in business. |
