Change service due date in instrument cluster?
Somehow the service reminder date for my brake fluid service got pushed way back. It says 02/2026. I reset it after changing the brake fluid in February. From what I remember the car had the wrong date set in the cluster when I reset the brake fluid reminder. I set the car do the right date but this did not change the brake fluid reminder. I tried to reset it the normal way and using BMW Carly app. If I set the date in the car to sometime in 2027 it would show needing service, right? And then I should be able to switch the date back to current date and reset it?

Does anyone know how to fix this without take it to a dealer? All I have been able to do by changing the date back and forth is to move the service date 3 more year into the future. It now says 2029.

Curious if this is tied into the calendar and clock system for the stereo or not. I have yet to mess with mine but figured I'd throw that out there for you to look at. Maybe your calendar is set incorrectly, and maybe that's why it listed the next service date incorrectly there.

I will try a battery reset. I can't find anything on how to perform a instrument cluster reset.

This is a coding board problem.
I wonder if the current date was set wrong last time the brake indicator was reset. Its a 2 year timer. |

By the way, I just used some information you posted about a SOS error message after installing a aftermarket headunit. I was able to program the error message out. Thanks a lot for the help with that. I would have not been able to figure it out on my own, but I think your post had a typo. You posted "nicht_activ". I had to change it to "nicht_aktiv". Agree with the typo I think in English rather than German. I was just echoing that stuff.
If you are reading out the module code it's nicht you usually have to add or remove. I would think setting the clock back to the current date and then doing the reset procedure might fix it. |

After all my messing with trying to fix it, it now says 11/2029 is my next brake fluid service. |
