2006 Heated Seat Issue - Video
2006 325i E90 with factory heated seats. I've been researching for weeks but can't find a similar problem so time to ask the community for help.
As you can see from the video the LED lights for the heated seat are acting up. The lights turn on randomly and change settings. Sometimes it turns off to turn back on in a couple seconds. I am getting some heat from the seat while on. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Thanks in advance! -Grant |

So what I'm wondering here is if this failure seems to be related to the actual seat heating mat or something else (like seat module)?
My seat has power adjustments (premium package) and there is a black module under the driver's seat. Does this module also control the heated seats or is the heated seat control module some other place? |

The drivers module turns on the seat heaters based on the signaling it gets from the network. The passenger seat does not use the same network to signal the seat heat on. It also does not have a module otherwise you could switch things around to test.
Scan for codes with a good BMW scanner and see if there are any codes related to the networking. |

There is a similar issue with the heated steering wheel on the later cars. General consensus was that if you waited 30 seconds to turn on the heated steering wheel after starting the car it would work fine.
Also, maybe your battery is low? .02 |

Does swapping or installing a new seat module require any coding? Haven't purchased a code reader yet but was leaning towards Foxwell NT510. |

I don't think a new module needs to be coded. Just make sure you get a module with the same part number as yours. Not all seat modules support heat.

The module under the drivers seat is not the same as the one under the passenger seat so I am not able to swap them to see if the fault travels. I am left with only one option and thats to pay the $260 for the drivers seat module and hope that it fixes it....
