This was one of my 1st mods and never actually documented it.

You can get the replacement knob from eBay ($20)

The knob is made for the idrive button with Navigation but can modified to work with the base idrive button.

On Pic #1 you will need to shave the plastic to make the knob flat, you can then glue the two parts together making the knob one piece.

Then stick some double sided tape on your original button, you might need to add a few strips to get it to the right height to make sure it turns freely.

That's it, changes the look easily.
