Flex pipe for particulate filter broken

Good evening boys. I just come because I need some suggestions.

The part number 11 on there is broken. Several sites tell me the same, and I need replace it (I think is not a MOT fault)

The problem seems that is not spares for it. The only thing that they can gets is a repair kit or change the dpf. The difference it will be the double(550 vs 170), but, with one they fix it and the other it can break it.

I just want to listen opinions and if someone have the same problem before what you do?

EDIT 1:

I just come from the mechanics. They told me something logical. They are not "happy" to weld it, thats why they recomend to change the dpf. So they recomend me to see if someone are able to remove it, change it and weld it as you say.

So please, someone know anywhere where I can do that arround Derbyshire? Or arround.

Thanks

the car is a 318d n47

Garage List
If you can use realoem & link that page it might be better. You can see the picture from bmwautoparts because it's probably cached on your machine - but we can't! If it's the flexipipe that's broken below the DPF, just bring it to any decent small garage or exhaust specialist & they'll do it. No need for a full new DPF!

Better? I will see it now.

I was thinking the same. First, when the exaust is going throught it, I can hear the engine "free". This only happens one time or any every month. So the crack is small. Second, as you say, is stup** change a dpf that is actually working and is only one pipe broken.

The problem is I don´t know how broken is.

Due to a split flex joint I had the catalytic converter (CC) replaced on my e90 318i under warranty because thanks to the daft design the flex pipe and the CC are one unit/section of exhaust. Dealer was adamant and said I only needed a flex pipe not a CC and the part was £1300 or there abouts “because I’d have to replace the CC as it was attached”

Not wanting to argue with stupidity I called warranty myself to explain the situation as the dealer wouldn’t and conclusion was I needed a new “front exhaust section”. As that section included both the knackered flex joint and the CC (the CC being the only part of the exhaust actually covered) by virtue of it being a single section and you can’t get one without the other it was covered. Warranty called the dealer and told them to stop being twats and get it sorted.

I was told however had the car been a diesel there’s an official bmw repair kit to square away that version but not for petrol and it was approx £50 plus labour.

So depending what your car is or if you have comprehensive bmw warranty there’s a couple of options.

Also a knackered and leaking flex joint is an mot fail.

yep, but not so many garajes like to do it.

I found one but 120 miles away and is not expensive.

I will leave it until I can. I need change the front suspension and my calipers on the back are stuck (I already change one thinking than the other is fine and seems not) so I expend a lot of money this months.

So I´m going to leave it and see what happens in the mot. If they told me that I need change it, because the MOT fails, I will go. If not... I going to wait until the summer to change it.
