Coilover Options!?
This topic has probably been posted a million times, but I'm looking for Coilovers for my 328i xdrive 2013. I was leaning towards the Bilstein B14 but I came across the KW V1 and the BC racing Coilovers. Any suggestions or experiences. I'm looking to spend under 2k. Thanks in advance!

Depends a lot on what you're going for. If you can afford KWs, go for those as they will give the best combination of driving dynamics and comfort. Bilsteins are more performance oriented and BCs are mostly for cosmetics. I got BCs because I like adjustability and I'm more so into stance than tracking or street racing. However, I rode in my friends e90 M3 with Bilsteins and the response in that car was amazing even being lowered like 1.5" compared to stock.

I went with the extreme low kit along with firmer rated Swift springs. The ride can be rough depending on your driving style. They're made for low and slow or really smooth roads. If you like to "get on it" at all times and tear up the streets, these aren't the coils to go with. If you're used to driving a stanced car and you know your commute routes... you'll be fine. I DD this in the DMV on some of the worst streets in DC and Baltimore on occasion and I'm happy with them. But I also went into it with the mindset of sacrificing ride comfort for aesthetics.

As much as I love the stance, if I drove like that in NYC it would bang every part of the car lol. I might lean towards the KW for a comfort and sporty DD

10/10 would recommend KW especially if you can get the V2 or street comfort with adjustable dampening. |

Quite untimely for Bilstein not to have any availability ... this is prep the car for summer season. If I didn't find the last set of B16s on Earth I probably would have went with the v2s or v3s. I just wasn't thrilled about where they put the adjustment knob.
I will also be doing my install this weekend. Picking up the now together wheels and tires tomorrow after work. Shouts to Ross at TDC automotive UK for 10/10 service .. that really worked out. That white car with the M4 wheels is sick .. but it's a bit too low for me .. I would scrape everything in 5 minutes. |
