My car is going to shit but I honestly can't find a replacement.
Slow oil leaks from pan and transmission, peeling interior trim, elusive vibrations and an incorrectly installed windshield that leaked water slowly is killing my AC electronics it seems. Prob better I sell it and buy another car but I can't find anything..
I buy my cars used and I wanted to go Japanese because I like to keep my cars 10 years and not deal with having to put my car up on jack stands to change running light bulbs. But I can't find anything that is RWD or AWD. I like the WRX but fuck if I am paying 19k for a 2013 limited WRX. Plus the WRX gets 25mpg highway does not help. I like the BRZ but I don't want something slower than a minivan. The miata is not for me. And that concludes all the rear wheel or AWD Japanese cars. Seems I missed the golden age of affordable RWD cars. |

Take advantage of the low resale value of BMWs and get another E90! There's a reason why it's the benchmark! Many will copy, but nothing comes close to the Ultimate Driving Machine (F3X excluded lol)!
You can find pre-lci 325/238/330 with under 100k miles for $6,500 or less. Or if you spend a little more, get an LCI 328/335 with 55k to 85k miles for $12,000 or less. |

they all start in rwd with optional awd. The awd starts at 100% rwd and moves to 50/50 split when it loses traction. When no traction issues, it goes back to rwd. Closest thing to japanese bmw is infiniti. my g35 lasted 175k before i traded her in. In that time span only replaced one lower control arm $150 and fixed my radio $100. Everything else has been oil changes and tires. Get the stick if possible if your looking at a g37 or 370z, there auto's are junk. i'm thinking of getting a used 2017 q60 3.0t turbo sport/premium myself. There around 32k used. I'm debating whether the junk auto only will prevent the sale or not. infinit autos are junk compared to the ZF. But there engine is basically like the japanese n54 motor, under rated from the factory and can make crazy amounts of power. There already q60's doing 440whp with a tune and down pipe with the non red sport 3.0t. |

Infinity g/m 35/37 are the only other cars I like compared to E90, in the same category.
Subaru resale is way too high for junk interior and potential head gasket issue. Love my n52 |

If you come from driving a 335i to a G35/G37 there is no comparison. I drove my friends G37 and it just felt sluggish to me. The power doesnt kick in until redline and the torque is nowhere near the torque in a 335i. I also felt like it was a lot heavier than my 335i. The interior is really nice tho but then again I bought my 335i for the driving experience not how the interior was styled

Had a 2005 WRX with the EJ205. At that time, subaru's interiors and audio/electronics were far worse than the BMWs of the time. The car was quick, but as others have described it, power delivery was like a rubber band. Nothing down low in the revs, but somewhere above 3500 it comes on fast. The EJ20 and EJ25 do have a serious head gasket issue that usually comes to bear around 150K miles.
No one has mentioned an IS350. While smaller than than E90, this was the car I cross shopped before buying my E90. I thought it was pretty nice, but the back seat was much smaller.

5.0 or 6th gen SS. They're reliable and fun.

IS350 is better put together than the G35/G37, but I think I'd rather deal with E9x probs. Hard to find something similar that has the same power and driving experience, and outside of the things that break there's a quality feel that the G35/G37 doesn't have, but the IS350 might.

The G37 is a nice car to drive, the only thing I didn't like was the really light feel of the steering. Worth a test drive for sure. The 350/370 are nice too but they feel really cramped inside.
I like the 5.0 Mustang as well, although I haven't driven the newest gen yet. The engine is fantastic. |

I drove a G37x and IS350 before the E90. They are nice cars, but had a few turn offs for me. The G37x 7 speed trans was awful. It was clunky and never knew what gear it was supposed to be in. The engine was good (VQ37) but the transmission and electronic throttle control was just not in tune. The steering was very light at highway speeds which made the car feel twitchy. The manual trans models have problems with the clutch slave cylinder leaking and usually it needs an aftermarket replacement to fix the issue. That's if you can even find a manual.
The IS350 was an improvement driving dynamics-wise, but it was too dang small. I'm only 5'10 and I felt like any moment I'd smack my head on the A-pillar. The backseats also seemed smaller than my sister's Honda Civic. IS350's are much harder to find, and anything with under 100k will carry a premium price tag. I've heard the new Q50 is an improvement for Infiniti, but I haven't driven one. I'd look for a lower mileage later model E90 like a 2011. I haven't driven the Mustang or Camaro so I can't comment on those. It seems like the problems your car is having are fixable.

Had the same problem, but not with my car going to shit. I got bored with it. Sold it and got a 2015 STi. Long story short, I am on my third N54. For the price of these cars and for the power you can get it, it's hard to find a comparable replacement. Find the right one in regards to maintenance and it's a killer value, granted you don't invest much into this platform. .
If I were to have the opportunity again, I'd go back to an STi. Not because it is fast, but because it is practical, fun and such a versatile vehicle. Not to mention aftermarket support is nice along with cheaper maintenance. |

i think the clutch slaver cylinder issue is over exaggerated. Mine broke at 150k and cost $200 with labor and parts to fix on my g35. Also it doesnt break right away, it slowly leaks and makes your clutch softer over time so you do get a good amount of warning. I'm 5' 8'' and i thought the 3rd gen IS has good amount of head room unless your talking about the 2nd gen. The 3rd gen is at least 3-4 inches longer then my e92. I think 2016 is200t with F sport package is a better deal then the is350. You get the turbo i4 with the F sport suspension, wheels and brakes. You get more tq then the is350 and better mpg. The is200t is faster then the is350 once you get a tune. Toyota added turbo lag in the tune so it wouldnt be faster then the is350 to 0-60. CPO ones are around 28k. |
