Question 09 335i (N54) Fuel Delivery Issues

2009 BMW 335i background:
Drivetrain:
  • N54 twin turbo engine
  • Manual transmission
  • Burger Motorsport DCI
  • VRSF Ceramic Coated down p1pes
  • VRSF Charge Pipe w/ Tial BOV
  • MHD w/ JB4 Backend Flash (removed for now)
  • BMW Performance exhaust mod
  • 535i MSD81 Replacement DME (coded to CAS and keys via G Coding and Programming)
Suspension & Brakes
  • BC Racing Coilovers
  • Whiteline Subframe Bushing Inserts
  • EBC Ultimax Rotors and EBC Red Stuff Pads
Recent work done to the car:
  • 3/7/2018 Replaced DME with 535i MSD81 DME (coded to CAS and keys via G Coding and Programming)
  • 2/21/2018 - Replaced LPFP, LPFP sensor, and EKP module (Bimmer Werks shop)
  • 9/21/2017 - Oil change w/ Rotella T6
  • 6/15/2017 Performance Exhaust Mod
  • 6/8/2017 - Replaces LPFP. Also replaced cabin air filter and windshield wipers
  • 3/17/2017 - Replaced battery with Auto craft platinum AGM battery
  • 1/26/2017 - changed spark plugs (NGK 5992). Oil change w/ Rotella T6
Background:
Bought the car knowing it had some fuel delivery issues, seller suggested EKP module or LPFP/HPFP, so I had BMW of Silver Spring look into it, and they said my HPFP was fine, and that my VIN isn't part of the recall. So I took the car to my BMW indy shop and we put JB4 to 0/0 (stock tune), and 4/3 (allows to code readers), left MHD tune on, replaced the LPFP, the LPFP sensor, and the EKP module. Buttoned everything up, kept JB4 off, and fuel delivery improved, but car stalled out on me 3 blocks down the road after I came to pick it up. Towed it back to the shop and they took another look and found that we now have no spark and no communication to the DME. I got in touch with G Coding and Programming who said they can code a spare DME to my CAS and keys for a few hundred. So I sent the units in the mail, got back the spare DME, plugged everything up, and still no spark and no DME communication to read codes from the Autologic scanner.

We've check relays, injectors, coils, pin voltage, all check out, just nothing from the DME. I'll probably tow it home and take it from here with any advice given here.

We learned that we're getting good fuel, but now we have no spark. We removed JB4 and sent the CAS/Key out to get a DME reprogrammed replacement. Will check back then

No codes? I hope it all works out! It's a sucky feeling when the car isn't driving right!

We learned that we have fuel at a good PSI level, but no spark, so we got a replacement DME from G Coding and Programming coded to our CAS and keys. Plugged it up, and still no DME communication and no start.

Losing hope at this point, lol.

We tried the spare MSD81 and got it reprogrammed to our CAS and keys. Still nothing. Are you suggesting a third DME?

Solved: DME was incorrectly plugged up, and a wire needed to be repaired. All works and functions, and JB4 and MHD is back hooked up. Thanks all from various forums and outlets.
