Keep getting annoying fog lamp failure warning but my fog is light up perfectly

As title, keep getting annoying fog lamp failure warning but my fog is light up perfectly. Anyone ever have the same issue? Any fix? The warning light come up even I didn't turn on the fog light.

the car bulb checks regardless if you use them or not.

easy fix?
code out the bulb check.
Complicated fix?
figure out why the bulb check fails. Probably corrosion or a bad harness connection somewhere.

Are you sure the rear fog lights aren't needing a replacement? Does it specify front or rear?

Are you using the specified Halogen fog bulbs or HIDs/LEDs?

On earlier BMW models when BMW first introduced the cold bulb check, this happened quite often, the usual culprits being the reverse bulbs. What happened, the bulb socket started to corrode in time, and the electrical resistance started to change. Once it hit a certain value, bang the bulb error warning hit the dash.
The original bulbs had a good chrome coating, but when they eventually burned out, people replaced them with cheap bulbs where the socket had a lesser quality coating, which got damaged over time by corrosion.
Some people just sanded the socket and applied a dielectric grease, other went and purchased OE bulbs, or some found good quality bulbs elsewhere. That was the fix. BTW: as time passed, that error started spreading to other bulb locations, but now people knew what they were dealing with.
