New pump.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

The amount of people with the same hairline crack and I'm surprised there isn't a recall or class action.

I've had 3 hairline cracks within 2 years, just waiting for the next one.

OP, new pump, some JB Weld may get you by for a couple of months, but I'd just go ahead and replace.

My original water pump failed electrically June 2017, at 50K miles I had it replaced by an independent shop ($1,350.00). They put in a pump brand named Continental. This pump developed a crack and began leaking March 2018, now at 61K miles. Took it to the BMW dealer and paid them $2k for a replacement, installed. This is getting old.
The independent shop that installed the first replacement in June, said it isn't cracked when I showed it to him. I have leak testing equipment at work so I am going to prove that it does leak.

How long ago? Any chance your still in warranty? Even if you're not, maybe you could convince them to goodwill the repair depending on how long ago it was installed?

BMW dealership here in Calgary warrants parts and labour for two years, so I would expect same in Toronto. Definitely worth checking.

Continental probably just reboxed the OEM Piersberg.

When was it installed? If within warrenty, I'd take it to the dealership asap and fight for a replacement. If denied, I'd order from FCP along with a thermostat and DIY. Otherwise, you'll probably be stranded when it gets worse.

Turbo models' water pumps are Continental, all of them so far, OEM, rebranded what not.

N52 NA model's OEM water pump is Pierburg. It is smaller capacity but the propeller housing is aluminum cast. Continental is higher capacity but the propeller housing is plastic and prone to cracking.
There is a lot threads, discussions on these in the forum.
