US fed emissions warranty vs California emissions?

I may have a catalytic converter inefficiency problem (error codes p420 and p430).

The US Federal Emissions warranty is 8 years/80,000 miles so BMW should cover the catalytic converters. California also has a 7 years/70,000 miles with additional emission component coverage but the Federal should suffice.

I called the dealer and they didn't really bring up the us fed emissions warranty and just told my 2010 bmw is out as of 2017 under the 7/70k. Is it possible my car is still under us fed warranty?

Fed is 8/80K. You have to fight some of these battles.

US federal emissions warranty is 8yrs/80k so I think it should still cover the cats (and override the California 7yrs/70k). Do you know if BMW expects customers to figure out what precisely is the problem or would my p420/p430 codes (for an inefficient cat converter) be enough to warrant a diagnosis/repair under federal warranty. The emissions warranty only covers a handful of items. I know there could be other reasons (and items not included in the fed warranty) as to why im receiving these error codes.
