BumperPlugs Experience
Just thought I would share this nightmare with the group.
Decided I hated my front plate and was going to go without as I have in the past (different state) and risk the ticket. Prior to ordering, I removed my plate to see if the bracket had 2 or 4 holes. Discovered it was four. Still, I decided to push forward and order 2 pair of BumperPlugs totaling almost $65. Plugs arrived quick and the color match appears to be excellent. Went to install these after work today and as I remove the plate bracket, I discover there are SEVEN HOLES DRILLED INTO MY BUMPER. I had to look at it sideways and feel them with my fingers to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. I'm trying to imagine what sort of moron is working at BMW of San Francisco that would need to drill that many holes to mount a fucking plate bracket. Anyways... crossing my fingers that BumperPlugs will take these back, less shipping. Guess Ill have to live with the ugly front plate for a few more months. Until I can get an upgraded bumper. I currently have the standard/base bumper that came on 2014 328i. Last edited by sspade; 03-20-2018 at 08:16 PM.. |

Up here in Chico, I don't think the dealer ever installs the front plate unless the customer requests it. The sales manager was very impressed when I showed him how I stuck some neodymium magnets inside the bumper shell, then put a soft rubberized magnet on the plate.
It goes on and off in a second. I've driven hundreds of miles at freeway speeds and it's never fallen off. |

Hopefully bumperplugs take them back!
I ended up taking my plates off and had my friend cover the holes and paint the section where the holes were. It was blended so that you can't tell only one section of the bumper was painted |

Google this number. It will lead you to the neodymium magnets on Amazon.
ND05578-45NM It's a set of three N45 magnets, 1.5" diameter by .25 thick. I used JB Weld putty to stick them behind the bumper shell. Here's the rubber flex magnet on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-MAG-TAG-M...-/122072265166 I used painter's tape to place the flex magnet on the outside of the bumper, where I wanted to mount the plate, then positioned the neodymium magnets on the inside. Having three magnets worked beautifully. The rubberized magnet snaps into the right position. |

BumperPlugs responded... they will take items back for a full refund. Pending them arriving in brand new condition. Seems fair to me.
Thankfully, some companies still care about customer service! Will definitely remember them for next time. Nice, quality product with fast shipping and good customer service. Cant ask for much more. |
