where to buy Breitling

Hey everybody,

First time in this forum, I'm looking at a Navitimer 01 (46mm)

or Navitimer GMT

Visited a couple stores and prices were around $10K.
However, online the price drops to $7,600-$7,800.
A place out in Cali then a place in NY.
Can these places be trusted?
What's everyone's take on this?
Do i ask the local store to match price?

Thanks

Go to Timezone Sales Corner and the Breitling forum, read their rules about discussing pricing.

If your not in a boutique store definitely ask about discount.

I’m a little out of what’s going on with watches right now. Used to be really into horology and I know this sounds rude - but unless you REALLY know watches, i wouldn’t spend 10K on a Breitling.

Look on Chrono24. I see them for $4600 or so. That’s one of the watches I want too.

Yes these are certified with box and papers and sold at legitimate US dealers. You just need to know where to shop.

Checkout watchbox too. I used WatchuWant for several watches, including a Breitling, and service is top notch. They are now owned by Watchbox/Govberg. I trust them completely.

I've had good luck in the past purchasing from Kenjo in NYC. Sales guy at the time was Sec Diaz, though I think he's gone and not sure how much of a discount you'll now get. He was the WatchUSeek Breitling forum participants' "preferred" salesman/dealer back in the day.

Keep in mind Jomashop and others are "grey market" dealers. You'll likely get a "warranty" from the seller - the Breitling factory warranty will be void. For watches like Breitling that largely use unmodified ETA movements, it's not a huge deal to give up the factory warranty, IMO.

Good luck!

You're in NJ, why not just drive to NYC. There are a TON of watch dealers in NYC. I could get a referral from a guy that I deal with for Breitling if you'd like (he mostly deals in vintage Rolex or AP).

You could also do some research on www.watchrecon.com
It brings watches in from a variety of forums and you can quickly do a search. The vast majority of dealers that are on these forums (WUS, TRF etc.) have really good reputations.
If they're a private seller, just ask for references. Most have great references and are easy to deal with.
If someone tries to pull a fast one on the forums, they're usually sniffed out pretty quickly and exposed.

Here are the results of a quick search for the Navitimer 01:
https://www.watchrecon.com/?query=br...01&last_days=0
And for the Navitimer GMT:
https://www.watchrecon.com/?query=br...mt&last_days=0

Hey guys

Thanks for all your help/links

I'm following all these links and learning,
Its crazy how the gray market works vs the authorized dealers.

Cheers

OP, I would suggest you go to authorized dealer. Your spending good money, and you should see the timepiece, and try it on. Buying from a AD will assure you a piece of mind. Especially if you have any mechanical issues. Might be out of the way for you. However, I recommend a London Jewlers in Manhasset LI.

I'd go with:

Pre-owned: (which is my recommended course of action, watches are all reconditioned and you'd never know. Get one with box and papers for resale)
Watchbox (full-disclosure, I used to work there in product design, they're a great trustworthy company)
Crown & Caliber - owned by Hodinkee and a solid pre-owned company. You'll have to wait to find what you're really wanting

New:
Hodinkee - best new retailer as far as I'm concerned. Great company.

Grey: (nothing wrong with grey, just know what you're getting into. They're all new and legit)
Jomashop - i've also purchased smaller pieces from them and they're great. I just usually go PO for bigger spends.

Also nothing wrong with TrueFacet, RealReal, etc but they're not watch pros. Chrono24 is also fine, but it's an eBay of retailers and just make sure you pick someone with LOTS of reviews and also has a store behind the name.

Full-full-disclosure: I worked in watches for a few years so i'm also very biased, but I do know the majority of these companies intimately.

I bought a Navitimer B01 43mm silver dial Japanese edition from Crown & Caliber through the online platform Chrono24 in 2020

The delivery was made by the higher grade of UPS

Condition is good and match with the description

Though C&C gave me 2 years after sales warranty, I took the Navitimer to the local Breitling Boutique. Upon checking for it's validity, they bear the remaining warranty for me (it was sold with 5 year warranty in 2018, I picked it on 2020, warranty last until 2023 under my name)

as it is the first time to buy such a watch online, really scary when I click the confirm button.
As I can track the parcel like the ordinary courier, I have no worry since then.

This thread is still going, wow. One thing I will caution is when you’re buying from overseas, some countries are more likely to sell fakes. Additionally, you have to pay customs. So although you will see a lot of less expensive watches in Japan, once you pay duties, you might not be saving the money you thought you would.

I bought a hard to find Omega for my wife which ended up being in Italy. I paid about 10% of the purchase price in duties/fees to get it released from customs in NY.

We bought a few from the Breitling Boutique on Madison Avenue in Manhattan.
A World Navitimer, Chrono 44, and recently an Endurance Pro and an Avenger Chronograph 44. Exceptional service and peace of mind. We did get discounts on each purchase plus swag everytime we made a purchase.

2nd for Chrono24 unless you like paying retail. I have purchased big ticket watches with no issues. Breitling from Japan to Canada delivered in 2 days. All documents, everything flawless. Chrono24 authenticity guarantee is robust. Do your due diligence, purchase from a verified seller/dealer that offers escrow. Shop with confidence on Chrono24

I bought a Super Avenger from a boutique years ago. You should be able to negotiate about 15-25% off depending on the model.

As others have mentioned, Chrono24 is also legit.

ebay now authenticates all watches, so this could also be a good source.
