Waiting Time from Order Placement to Production Start?
Based on posts here, I'm thinking that the waiting time between placing my order (May 31) and my scheduled production (week of July 4th) is a bit longer than normal. Anyone care to comment how how this varies (I suspect dealer volume/allocations has a lot to do with it), and on whether a 5 week wait between order placement and start of production is average, longer than average, or shorter than average? Add another 40 days to that to cover the actual production time PLUS shipment, and we're into mid-August -- a 10-11 week wait.
Thanks Mike |

Well not to depress you or anything, but I ordered mine in late March, and only just took delivery at the weekend there! Basically a 3 month wait!
But it was worth it!! |

I ordered on 5/23, car was done 6/7 and loaded on a ship on 6/16 or so. Yours should've hit production by now for sure. Did you get a production number at the time you ordered? If so, go to Owners Circle and track your order. Calling the 1800 number is more accurate by 2 days or so. I would guess your car should be here by end of July.

Options ??
In checking the web site, I no longer see the options for the car.
The car is in step 2, Awaiting Production. The were there when the car was in Step 1, "Order" Is this normal? |

We got a production number within days of our 5/31 order, and the live BMWNA rep immediately told us it would be a July 4th production. This has never changed (but the 1-800 automated system still says "scheduled for production with no confirmed production date"). I'm wondering why your pipeline was so much quicker? Higher volume dealer perhaps? Mike |

fredtoo - I heard that is "normal". Mine did the same and the options never re-appeared.
Kimo - don't know if this applies to you, but another thread mentioned extreme delays for those ordering wood trim. I would just call the dealser and ask why the delay. btw - I ordered my car on 5/10, but it is on the same ship with Danny's (HRC).

one more thing to add (not to make u feel any worse), but I noticed a couple people placing their orders recently and expect to get their cars by early July if not sooner. I think they just got lucky and were able to find their specs from the inventory of vehicles that are arriving in shipments coming in soon.

At the time of order, the car was already in production, yet an early enough stage to change options and color. For US customers, the best source of status is your dealer. The second best is 1-800-831-1117. Enter the following at each voice message (you don't have wait politely): Press "2" for "vehicle production status", Enter your 7 digit production number (the dealer supplies this), Enter "1" to tell it you just entered a production number (not a VIN) I think that you enter "2" if you use the VIN. I even programmed the whole sequence into my cell phone Put "pauses" between the sequences The Owner's Circle website is a complete waste of time unless you are a student of Ancient History or Mythology. |

You are lucky to order 5/23 & be on same ship as... Socko & myself which ordered on 5/10. I'm in NY & told my car should arrive 6/23 & at my deal 6/30? Last edited by Barry626; 06-21-2005 at 11:14 PM.. |

Basically, I think her car might be the twin to Nathan's car? But I'm still not sure why her production date is so far down the road from a May 31st order date. Mike |

I also ordered on the 31st of may. My car is schedule for production in the 1st two weeks of july. I don't know what date exactly yet...It's possible your dealer "sold" their allocation for june...
I expect delivery 3rd or 4th week in July |

I agree with JohnFkitchen on the 800 number being a better source than Owners' Circle. Btw - you can can also just say "Vehicle Production Status" without waiting for the recording to stop speaking. It will then ask for your VIN or production order number - again, you can just say the number and not have to wait. It's all in Nathan's thread which you must've already read. Let us know what you find out on the reason for the delay.

ordered my 330i on 5/23, its been built and will arrive in Baltimore on the 25th of June! FYI with your vehicle id number you can track the status of your vehicle's departure from Germany on the shipper's website, www.2wglobal.com. I was able to determine its departure from Germany while the BMW site still indicated it was in production.

Time from being at the port to being on a ship?
I was wondering what the range of times between the car arriving at the port of Bremerhaven and being on a ship has been?
Mine got to the port on June 13th (ordered May 21, completed June 9) and has missed two ships already... I was naively hoping that it would make the next one, or two... I have read around 10 days - anyone much over that? Thanks, Oliver
