Planning a trip to Munich

Hey folks,

I'm planning a trip to Munich with the family, and of course we'll stop at the BMW Museum. My American Express travel concierge mentioned that if I'm a BMW owner (I am! 2018 340i!) I should check with my dealership to see if I can score a spin on the track. First of all, what track? Is there a track at the Munich Museum? I called my CA at the local dealership and they have no idea what she was talking about. Any ideas? Beyond that, any tips for getting the most out of Munich from a BMW perspective?

thanks!

I’ve been, but don’t recall a track.....

Do the factory tour, well worth it.

Agree, on both. Also the museum is not open Monday, so plan accordingly.

I know there's an Isetta driving through bmw Welt.
I think they take on rides on occasion/on reservation. Maybe he means that?
The other cars that are driven there are cars that have been sold and people choose for the pickup at bmw welt.
But there's no racetrack over there, its inside the city.

I really like the location of the Platzl Hotel when I stayed in Munich. Far from BMW Welt but it was close to the hop on hop off bus that stops off at the Welt. Or at least it was when I went a few years ago.

Yup, that Isetta is still doing the rides. They also had a Mini drop top doing rides as well.

They may be talking about the track days BMW NA offers. They are basically glorified test drives where they take you around Limerock or Laguna Seca. On the opposite side of the spectrum you have the Nurburgring. My brother used to play hockey in The DEL league in Augsburg. One of my visits I did Oktoberfest in Munich and did a few laps at the ring. They are a half day ride apart, but just driving the autobahn can be fun for a first timer. One thing I would say is plan your visit a bit more than you normally do. A factory tour is possible with enough begging and notice. Sundays in europe are often quier than the states, and many places you would expect to be open are closed. Also, some places that are open Sunday close Monday for the employees. Neuschwanstein Castle should be at least considered as well. Milan is a short train ride south through the beautiful alps.

Kempinski is tough to beat location-wise
